I think for a wheel bearing - you can tell which side by the noise it makes when cornering.
They don't usually vibrate (IIRC) - just a loud, rough humming noise - which varies as you corner.

Vibrations - might well be the wheel you replaced isn't balanced. Get it looked at. Unbalanced wheel is the cheapest option to start with.
