When will Audi stop producing the A2 ??

I heard that Audi won't be producing a new version of the A2, so wondered when production of the current model was likely to cease.

The wife's 1.4 A2 will be 3 years old next year, and we are considering changing it for a 1.6 sport version - don't want to leave it too late !!

I have heard some interesting things about this of late.

When production stops it is likely to be for good as Audi make a loss on the A2 - sales in Europe last yearr apparently dismal resulting in very poor residuals in the coming years. facelifted version shown at frankfurt just, but if you look at current trade values they are not promising.

Any pictures of the face-lifted version - what are the main changes ?

Any chance they might produce a more powerful model before they stop production - maybe the 2.0FSI engine at 150 bhp [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif[/img].

The brochure also had the performance spec of the new 1,4 90bhp engine!!! Fuel consumption is quoted EXACTLY the same but 0-60 goes from 12,6 seconds to 10.9 seconds (1,6 FSI is now only better by a second at 9.8). Top speed goes up from 173 to 188. Power goes up from 55Kw at 4000 to 66Kw at 4000 and torque goes up from 195 at 2200 to 230 at 1900-2200... Kerb wieght up by 10Kg as a result too for some reason. May be the new RED i badge on the rear weighs more?!

So they changed the flap at the front and that's about it ???!!!!!!

The wife doesn't want a diesel so that's already been ruled out. She did like the 1.6FSI that she borrowed for the day, as it had a 'tame roar' when accelerating.........

No, she really wants one - so far we've looked at the A2 1.6FSI to replace the A2 1.4 she currently has, and an RX-8.

She is still upset that I ordered the M3 without her approval - she hadn't even seen or driven the car. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smashfreakB.gif[/img]

Although the M3 is reasonably practical, we need her car to be more baby-oriented', as the plan is to make one of those baby things next year [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - any tips, much appreciated !

Any suggestions for a car (up to £20k) that will be practical and still fun ?

Seat Cupra seems ideal, but she's not keen - she does like the A2.
