having spent hours keeping my A3 quattro brilliant black paint in good order, I've played safe with sprint blue this time.

I've had my S3 sportback for 2 wks now there was no option for S tronic. I would like to know when Audi put the S tronic on the spec sheet? because everybody I speak to at Audi say that you can only get Manual. You do however get it on the S line. Somebody please confirm.

I placed my order in June, and was told that the DSG version would not enter production until later in the year. Audi hasn't come back to us to say "can't have it".....

Local dealer told me last Thursday, building towards end of year --- Boxerbeat, it probably wasn't available when you ordered, must say I was a bit surprised when told, but hey..... Audi denied that there would be a Sportback S3 !

Also told me about the 2.5 five cylinder 'turbo' TTRS next year

Nearly got caught out a few times at roundabouts etc - trying to dash into a gap, while the gearbox just took t o o l o n g to decide what gear it wanted. Also turning certain slow corners, where it insisted on changing down to 1st - where 2nd was preferable.

Good away from the lights and fast changes on the motorway etc - but I was still desperate to get back into a manual.

Just my thoughts and different to most people I know.
I've got to say, i'm with you on this one! DSG just isn't smart enough (and I can't see how it could ever be) It's great on the motorway and going up gears. Going down gears and spirited driving it seems to get confused. I'm looking forward to manual again when the S3 arrives!

....The trick is to use M-mode nearly all the time and drive it just as you would a manual. Only pop into D-mode for urban and traffic queues etc. That way, you are the one in control at all times. You instantly override D or S modes anyway.

I'm wanting to arrange a test drive in a new S3 Sportback S-tronic - Are they available yet? - The local Audi salesman actually didn't know!!

....IIRC I've recently seen a full page spread magazine advert saying S-tronic S3 Sportback quattro - It's the ONLY reason I'm at all interested - I won't go back to conventional manual.

....I went into WHSmith's library this morning and checked - I was wrong, no S-tronic version of the new S3 Sportback mentioned in the advert.

I have now contacted Audi UK and they say that more info will be known later this year and the car not available until "well into next year" 2009.

Next question is whether they offer any good colours instead of all those boring 'safe' colours that Audi usually do. Though their yellow and orange are horrible and at the other extreme. All imo.

....I would have this red one. Trouble is that I find the standard Audi A3/S3's look a bit boring (great if you don't want to stand out at all) so I'd be modding it and I'm still in love with my GTI.
