Default Front seat sliding mechanism.......

2004 A3 (2 door), when I release the front passenger seat for access to the rear the seatback will tilt forward but the seat base does not slide.

The cable at the side of the seat that activates the slider mechanism isn't pulling anymore (drivers side is fine).

Before I start taking apart (breaking?) anything I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what it might be as I can't see where the cable connects to without dismantling back and/or sides of seat.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If this is anything like the mechanism on the A4 Cab front seats its known issue that a lug breaks off the mechanism under the seat that unlatches the runner meaning the seat tilts but wont slide. I had mine replaced under warranty so I guess the dealers must hold the parts in stock as they did it while mine was in being serviced.

OK probably is this, car's not in warranty any more but if it needs a new part then there's probably not much I can do today.

I am due for DSG and Haldex oil change so I'll probably get them to check it then, was just wondering if it was something simple/cheap to fix.

Well, car's going in next Friday for some service work so I'll ask about some 'goodwill' on the seat, it's 4 1/2 years old.
