Default leaking washer bottle.

Ive got a leak somewhere in my washer bottle. I fill it up and about half drips out onto the floor near the front wheel. i get a couple of squirts then the light comes on the dash and it soon runs out after that!

So i can't afford a new one just now but was hoping to get a look at it and maybe get some sealent on the hole / crack? so what is the best way of getting to it? i can't see much of the lower part of the bottle from the bonnet so I'm guessing i need to go in the wheel arch maybe? is it a major pain in the backside or not? This is a problem with the TT as well
I'll find the link to the fix, it might work on an A4

Is a common problem on the B5 A4 also, usually the pump that corrodes and splits. Relatively cheap and easy to do but you have to remove the wheel arch trim and drop the bottle down over.

Jims... do you know if the split pump's and be sealed or do i need to order a new pump? I was hoping to have a look at this over the next couple of days as when i get back to work i won't have time but i don't think i will be able to get hold of a new one in time.

On mine the body of the pump had corroded and split so it could not be repaired, I got mine from VAGParts.com.
If yours has headlight washers then there will be two pumps, the headlight one is fixed half-way up the bottle, the windscreen one is at the bottom of the bottle so you will need the right one.

Here's a link for the B5, it may be of some use http://www.audiworld.com/tech/misc28.shtml
