Glove box hinge snapped

The glove box hinge nearest the passenger door has snapped. It has been getting progressivly more difficult to open until today when snap when trying to close it.

Warranty has just expired - how much to repair? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttcheeks.gif[/img]

My wifes avant glovebox hinge was broken when we bought it, i use it as a excuse to lower the asking price of car and got £300 knocked off. And then went on ebay and got one for £25 inc postage, easy swap over and the lock comes off easy enough to swap.

I know it doesnt help, but mine has been difficult ever since I had the car in Sept. I finally sprayed it this weekend with silicon spray and now its like the runners are on ice!
If anyone is having probs with the catch, I suggest a quick spray of silicon before the problem above happens to you.
Hope it doesn't cost too much to fix, but i have heard it's a new glovebox when they do break [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smashfreakB.gif[/img]

If it's a new glovebox then feck that!

I called the stealer they said it would be either a new hinge or a completely new front....

And some fecker has nicked one - yes only one - of my centre caps from my alloys... [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smashfreakB.gif[/img]

I have had the glovebox fixed on mine twice now due to a snapped hinge.Once just the front and the second a new complete unit.
both times under warranty though!

My glove box lid on my A4 Avant has snapped off completely so bidding at moment for replacement. Any help / advice on swapping out and changing lock gratefully appreciated!!

My glovebox got really stiff. So knowing how fragile the hinges are I did not force it. On closer inspection it was the damper on the side (under the cover on the end of the dash) that was causing the problem. Took it off, took it apart, cleaned it up and put some silicone grease on the seal. Now it's really smooth.

any luck i have the same problem and cant find one anywhere...
