Hi Guys
I am gonna speak with the dealer about this but two days ago my aircon wouldnt blow cool air. I meant to call the dealer but didnt get around to it, but today got in and the aircon button wouldnt go out. I tried all the tricks like pressing screen demister because that always puts on the aircon but nowt seemed to work! So the 'econ' button is permanently lit - anyone know what is wrong with it? This is the 2nd fault in as many weeks - my previous A3 had two new air con compressors in its 2 year life with us so there you go! After 18 months of troublefree driving in the Porker this is not good and to be honest I am not too happy about it. Sometimes wonder if one fault leads to another.... Cheers Tone |

Econ light staying on is nomally a sign of low gas.
I would get a regas and check for leaks.

Well I got the car back after it staying in overnight at the audi centre - got the call to pick it up at 12.14. 12.30 was in the dealer getting the keys - 3 mins later back in because the air con was still blowing hot air.
An hour later I'm told there is a leak in the system - they have chucked some dye in it and that I am to drive it aroud and retur the car on Tuesday! I expain that I gotta go to York tuesday and Liverpool Wednesday! So I can bring it in on thursday - but I wont have any cool air con for the next few days because the gas will leak out by tomorrow! Unfortunately they didnt have a spare car for me and I am loathed to drive the porker to York and Liverpool! I know these things are mechanical but I've only had the car 7 weeks and its been in 3 times now - and I am already getting fed up! Is it me or do we all feel like this when the old motor is misbehaving? So I am driving home and I've not got more then a mile and this two tone bleep kicks off inside the cabin - its bleeping like mad - a sound I have not heard from the car ever before - I get home and find out why its bleeping - then the dealer confirms my findings - POP QUIZ - what do you think caused the car to bleep!? At least my old cruise is working a treat!! Cheers Tone Last edited by _Tone_; 22-08-2008 at 06:21 PM. |

And dealers wonder why customers get upset.
To tell you your car is ready with the fault still there is cr#p service. I bet they did a regass and didn't check for leaks until you took the car back, I would expect a leak check to be done during the regass. The machine we use holds the system in vacuum to check for leaks before regassing.

Beeping - anything showing on the DIS? Must be getting close to the point where you reject the car as "not fit for purpose", might be worth investigating/taking advice? |

They left the VAG Com device in the port!
When I got home I went to pop the bonnet and saw a blue light flashing as well as that stupid bleeping! I was tempted to sell the fooking thing and claim my own compensation! I have had the car two months now - do you really think its worth a "return" for the two faults? Usually Northampton Audi are quite good but it seems they lost the plot - it was so quiet there as well! I said to one of the service advisors - how quiet it was but I guess lots of people on holidays (god I wish I was!). As of today I still have some gas in the system so my trip to York tomorrow may not be so bad. Apart from this issue I must say I like the car! Just need some privacy glass and rear parking sensors fitted and it would be great! Cheers Tone |

That's not a VAG-COM device, first VAG-COM is a lead and some SW on a PC (no silly thing with blue lights that beeps), and second dealers don't use VAG-COM (it's not an Audi piece of SW, it's written by a company called Ross Tech in the US) they use a thing called a VAS 5051/5052.
It sounds like the dealer left the adapter that they use to stop faulty radios blowing up their VAS in your car. |
