Default A4 170 TDI Recall

As it says, stealer phoned this morning to inform me of a recall on my car - takes about 90 minutes (yea, right) and is a software update.

What is all this about then?

My car runs brilliantly at all times, quick and frugal.

Can anyone 'in the know' shed any light?

Thanks

My money is on it being something to do with the DPF.

Read a lot of people with VW & SEAT with the 170bhp diesel having problems with the light coming on all the time.

My initial thought too but mine is always cruising above the magic 2000rpm and I have no DPF issues and no smoke. I hope this does not knack something which does not need fixing - unlike the groaning steering.

IF its the DPF software update does that mean a power reduction and an increase in fuel use?

Hmmmm, interesting discussion coming re purchase of TDI 170 NOT 160(or whatever) and published fuel economy figures.

Dear Sir...................................

From what i undertstand the software mods to the VW and SEAT cars were just to modify the threshold level at which the DPF warning light comes on.

We both could be barking up the wrong tree so best idea is give the delaer a call and ask them what the update is for. You might be suprised and they know

The lady (workshop/customer liaison operative) could not tell me other than it was a software update. I seriously doubt her ability to tell me what day of the week it was.

Unfortunately that's the case with my local dealer as well although she is very pleasing to the eye so that goes some way to minimising the issue

My car had a softwear recall a few months back , changes the way the car picks up in 1st gear , apparently it is to preserve the clutch life in them , and audi uk are chasing up dealers to make sure this is carried out.

Thanks ivor2. Have you noticed any difference? Mine does seem to be less 'aggressive' on launch.
