Hmmm, I was told this at a recent 40K service, it was not essential but noted. After a £3,500 side swipe, fully repaired and tested at Audi, there was no mention, I asked what they thought and their reply was that the roll bar was sound.

Craig,
I have mine changed last year under warranty for the same problems you have. The ARB had apparently developed a hair line crack....... Have you sorted it yet ?

i took my a4 1.8t sline for a service and front brake pads replaced. Amongst the things they told me that needed doing were ARB bushes, rear tyres (2mm left and that would get me into trouble with the police apparently. Unfortunately they weren't aware of what i do for a living) one of the rear tyres had a bulge (no sign of the bulge when i replaced the tyre a month later) front discs were badly lipped- i asked why they needed changing as they were above min thickness and the lip was no where near enough to foul with the pad backing... i was met with blank looks.
Not impressed at all, they presented me with an estimate of £1350 for work, a new set of pads self fitted and tyres of tinterweb later and she was tickety boo again.

I haven't done much about the ARB, or knocking, until now...
I want to remove as much loose stuff from the vehicle as I can, to see if there's anything causing the noise. So I've just emptied the boot, including spare, etc, and will be taking the car out later. Next step will be to remove the child-seats and load-cover. If the noise remains I'll have a word with a local garage, see what they can find. The noise seems to be getting worse, but I don't know if that's simply because I'm tuned into it now. ![]() One good thing to come from it was I checked the pressure in the spare tyre while it was out. I've never done it myself. Recommended: 60psi. Actual: 42psi. Last edited by Sponge; 01-03-2010 at 03:19 PM. |

Hello all! New member here.
Just a quick question regarding RS4 Anti roll bars. I have a 2006 audi a4 cabriolet and want to upgrade to the RS4 ARB,Is there a part number for the arb? My dealer wants a chasis number in order to provide the part. Are there any specific details I need in order to to get the right part for my car. Any help will be greatly appreciated Many thanks |

Welcome to Tyresmoke
![]() Just tell your dealer what you're doing, so you don't have a chassis number. If the parts guy is that anal, go to another dealer. Don't forget to buy the bushes as well
