Elec Boot Closing & Mirror not De-Misting

Not sure if these could possibly be related but they both manifested themselves on the same day. The Electric Boot Closure has stopped working in the morning,but by lunchtime it works again-I have checked out the fuse and that seems ok. Also the drivers side heated mirror has stopped de-misting. Any ideas what the problems could be? The car is a late 2005 A8 3.0 Tdi Sport.

my drivers side mirror is also failing to de-mist. The passenger side is ok, any ideas anyone?

Sounds like the heating element has gone in it
