Hi all,
anyone know if you can still punch in your cars vin number/reg on the Audi site, and get info of things that have been done to it at Audi centers, i.e. repairs etc. And if so, how you do it? Thinking of buying a used Audi and wondered what I should check out about it. Thanks for any help you can give

Repair work can be found by calling the dealer that carried out the work

My local Audi dealer told me and I quote "due to the data protection act" they are not able to give out any serious issues/work undertaken by them for a previous owner so would suggest you ask them to bring up the car's history on their service dept screen's as they can't hide it then!!

They will only tell you if any recall work has been done, they are not allowed to tell you of any repairs to bodywork etc.
That is why you have Cat D's, Cat C's etc. If it gets to a point where the DVLA think the next owner needs to know it will be logged under the hpi check. Obviously not if it was repaired without using the inurance and the dvla didn't hear about it.

seems like another case of hiding behind the Data Protection Act....surely this covers personal information about an individual or personal information that can be directly linked to an individual - not service repairs TO A CAR!
