No, Ade, I don't work for Audi or any other part of the VW group. I'm just making suggestions. What you do with them is up to you

Best you can use now is to have the engine rebuilt by a specialist - good opportunity to have the bottom end done and a new larger turbo and lots of BHP .... sorry getting carried away.

I think you will get no where with Audi UK, so i'd now try to resolve it in the best way you can and that will not be within the Audi network as they do not employ anyone competent enough to rebuild an engine based upon my experiences.

Anyway I'll stop ranting now...... good luck.
Believe me I will NOT be using any part of the audi network to sort this out. They will not get 1p from me ever again. BMW gain is audi loss, in a resession I would have thought they would have been happy to see me spend 20k with audi, but it seems not.

Anyone got a recomendation for a clever garage in the north west. I am in Warrington, Cheshire.

In my previous post I suggested Ben Williamson at AVPerformance. He's about an hour away but it would be worth the cost getting the car trailered to him. He's highly trusted in the Audi/VW world.

Do you actually believe that BMW will give you a different response in the same circumstances as your current Audi? I suspect the response you get will be pretty similar to Audi's.

The car is well out of warranty, not just a little bit.

Why would you expect Audi to pay for the repairs? they aren't responsible for your car forever, and they are right in that you should have stopped as soon as the oil pressure light came on, it takes very little time to do massive damage to an engine that has no oil circulating.

It may sound harsh, but you really have no chance of Audi helping out, I would advise to go with the bloke Shark90 recommended, and get him to have proper look at it, and tell him about the previous coolant issues too, if he suspects a link he may well be able to write up a report linking the 2 problems for you to send to Audi, which is frankly, your only chance of getting a goodwill gesture from them.

For what it's worth, the loyalty thing does stand to your advantage with dealers, and they are quite right, you didn't give your servicing business to them, so why should they do anything above and beyond the call of duty?

I get looked after quite well by Ford, and they use the loyalty policy too, I've had cars that are well out of warranty fixed for free, or for peanuts, simply because all the stamps in the book are Ford ones.

I hope you get the current car fixed without too much expense. Must admit, without a full dealer history you chances of any goodwill contribution by Audi are slim at best - however the way they told you that was unfortunate.

As for your next car, buy a 3 series (it's an infinitely better car anyway) and send Audi UK a postcard.

I hadn't thought of getting him to do a case report.. the last one he did resulted in a brand new engine in a B5 RS4 courtesy of Audi UK
