My (8p) S3 is 3 years old early December, think it was one of the first on the road and a great car since delivery.
My car only has 29,000 miles on the clock and is used as my to work car 5 days a week. I have contacted warranties direct and Audi directly and the top cover for both is around £680 for the year including breakdown cover. I dont usually buy warranties but feel with the complexity of the modern car I feel it is worth the money. Thoughts welcome ? Thanks

Unless you've had a car that's been in and out of the garage I'd never get an extended warranty. Far rather put the £700 aside (maybe less the breakdown bit) and if you get stung for more than that per year then its been pretty unlucky.
The last year I had my first TT was the worst in the 7 years - radiator fans and broken rear springs but that only came to half that. In fact over all 4 post-warranty years I probably spent £700 (both arbs, bushes, fans, springs, coil packs, indicator relay, coolant sensor). Tyres and servicing cost me far more.

I've just been through the same thing with my A4 2.0T special edition s-line (warranty would have been £689 including Audi Assist). The car had covered 24k miles and had been no trouble during the first 3 years. In the end I decided only to renew the Audi Assist @ £89 and keep the £600 for a rainy day, the thought being if something was to go wrong, hopefully it would be less than £600 and if not, then that's my bad luck.
One thing I would say is there is no room for negotiation with Audi over the warranty cost so I wouldn't even bother trying! Audi Extended Warranty |

I went for the Audi all component cover warranty in the end for piece of mind.

Interestingly you can buy extended warranty on the S3 when ordering new @ £240 for an additional 1 year or £535 for an additional 2.

£535 invested in an extended warranty will yield better "returns" than any bank account right now. |
