....Okay. I'm only making the point that Xenons, be they bi or tri or quad etc etc, are sealed - Aren't they? Perhaps I'm wrong.

No they're not sealed. You can replace Xenon bulbs.

You are - as Mook says Xenon bulbs can be replaced - provided you are careful to make sure that the ignitor circuit is discharged since there could be a couple of thousand volts there!

I've decided to go for this, and ordered the parts using a combination of comments from this forum, and from another Audi forum.

I'll let you know how my experiece goes! Should get the parts over the next week or so.

Anyway, for your interest, these are the links to the parts I bought:
SMT LED DRL Bulbs - eBay Motors: V-LEDS HID WHITE 60 M-SMT PARKING BACK-UP LIGHT BULBS (item 250275530851 end time Aug-02-08 23:51:41 PDT)
LED Side Lights - 194 WHITE REFRACTOR 5-LED WEDGE BULBS 194 168 147 158 on eBay, also Bulbs Lenses, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 02-Aug-08 11:25:10 BST)
LED DRL Resistors - WELWYN | WH50 24R JI | Resistors, Thermistors & Potentiometers | Components & Spares | CPC
LED Side Light Resistors - I couldn't get the 25W 68R resistors anywhere, so I went for 2 options, and will see if either work. Option 1 was the same as the DRL resistors (WELWYN | WH50 24R JI | Resistors, Thermistors & Potentiometers | Components & Spares | CPC) and option 2 was the closest I could get to RJKflyer's recommendation (WELWYN | WH25 47R JI | Resistors, Thermistors & Potentiometers | Components & Spares | CPC)

I am going to do this mod on my S3 8P.
Will it need the same resistors as the RS4 or does the S3 run different loads? Has it got the same sort of bulb checker as the RS4??
Any help would be much appreciated.

Same resistors needed since the bulbs are the same rating and the same check is done.

Yeah you were right Dave, Ive put them in and the bulb check came on! Ive ordered the resistors now but not sure how i am going to get the wires out of the back of the headlamp cover seeing as they are different to the RS4! Ill have to have a look and decide which will be the most logical way to do it. Fairplay they do look the nuts though!!
