Chaps,
Going to have a look at an RS4 Avant tomorrow, take it for a spin and see if I like it. Any must-haves? Spec is: Dolphin Grey Black Leather Buckets Technology Pack Sunroof Not sure if it has the Ceramic Brakes... if it has, are these a big plus, or a maintainance nightmare? Thanks B ![]()

Does an RS4 Avant really weigh 1,845kg !
This is shown as 'Kerb Weight', so not sure how much extra should be added to the below figures, but it does make out the Audi to be a bit of a lump. My 535d saloon weighs 1,735kg unladen and I wouldn't call it a light weight. An e46 M3 weights 1,570kg and a CSL 1,385kg. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong car ? ![]()

No brake dust cant be right. There was considerable brake dust coming from the lambos, porches and Ferrari's with them at Monza. The brake dust comes from the pads not the disk, hence why different pads turn the wheels different colours.

The correct weight for an RS4 Avant is actually 1710kg, so still not a feither weight, but I've just ejected the fat guy sat beside you compared to your figures. Had this debate recently with someone else, anyway, his log book states 1710kg and Evo always listed it as 1710kg too: Audi RS4 Avant: Engine V8 Location Front, longitudinal Displacement 4163cc Max power 414bhp @ 7800rpm Max torque 317b ft @ 5500rpm Transmission 6-speed manual Weight (kerb) 1710kg Power-to-weight 246bhp/ton 0-62mph 4.8sec (claimed) Max speed 155mph (limited) Basic price £51,255 Insurance group 20 evo Rating 5 out of 5 stars Hope this helps! ![]()

Thanks guys... going to take it for a spina and see what I think. Difficult on a test drive to really get a feel for a car though.
Spec is good, everyting but the ceramic brakes, but not overly fussed, just would bee cool ![]() Avus Silver (not Dolphin Grey), Black Buckets, plus:

Other thing to get checked is the DRC system. As per the old RS6 the shocks leak and the system fails - lots of threads on rs246.com on this. Oh and great choice of car! HTH ![]()

Also check that you can live with the bucket seats - not everybody can, some find them too uncomfortable to live with (which is why Recaros were a no-cost option).
Second about the "proper" RS4 steering wheel - that's a big MUST. Personally I'd change the aluminium inlays for the RS4 carbon fibre - RS4 specific, they're different to the S4 carbon fibre inlays, the weave is different. |
