Default Car Error ESP & Flashing Glow Plugs

Hi Guys

Had an error thrown up today which yielded next to no power and had to pull over. Fortunately after a full car turn off and back on it seemed to go.

The car is an A4 2.0tdi (140) Multitronic.

Does anyone know what the issue ight be realted to - ESP on ad flashing Glow Plugs?

I am taking the car into dealer on Monday as it has come up 3 times today - not going to drive it until its been looked at - but thougt I'd ask here!

Cheers

Yep it could be.. could also be a throttle position sensor problem but if the car is driving then it probably isn't that.

Well the dealer called me back today and said a new wiring loom is required which will fix the issue (whatever that actually is!).
Unfortunately I was in the porker and its a bit loud using a bluetooth headset so could not fully hear what was being said but apparently the loom is an updated one and that the fault is more common!

Anyway when I get the car back I will hopefully get a more technical answer and let you know just in case someone on here gets the same issue.

Adios

Do you have a technical answer fromt he garage regarding this, it's just my ESP light has been comming on for no reason, then 30 seconds to 1 minute later it goes off. Very strange. Did you have to pay for the new loom or did Audi?

Hi J1mmy, your error might just be the brake light switch.
Your independant garage (VAG Specialist???) will know.

That's true, I remeber about 2 years ago it happened. Audi did a test and said it was the brake switch and if it came on permanently then they would replace it. For a charge... Will get them to test it again when it goes in.

I had this on my infamous A6 1.9tdi.
The diagnosis on mine (for the 'limp home' mode) was a faulty throttle potentiometer????
My ESP light goes on and off occasionally also - Haven't had this investigated though!

Default Flashing Glow Worm Light and ESP Light

Hi,

I think I have the same problem. I have an Audi A4 but when driving the Glow Worm light was flashing and the ESP (Triangle) light came on.

I lost power and had to switch of engine and restart for the lights to go out.

Can someone please help ? I don't want to go to Audi dealer they will charge a lot of money.

Many thanks,

Gurmit.

You will need to get the fault codes read to find out exactly where the fault lies.. what year is your car?
