Question Apple iPhone & Audi GSM Bluetooth Prep 2008

I have the 3g iphone and an audi a4 fitted with audi's gsm phone prep ( 2008 on an S4 Cabriolet )
connecting using bluetooth seems to be a nightmare
I can hear callers clearly at all times - -but everyone I'm calling is telling me I'm

A) very quiet, and,

B) for every four or five words in a sentence there are dropouts, so they just get a sentence with words missing - very frustrating - everyone has to strain to make sense of what I'm saying or even just hear me.

I've had the phone swapped at the applestore and they ran a diagnostic check to make sure the handset was okay, and audi have even replaced the mic trying to help.. unfortunately things haven't improved.

Anyone know of a solution - or even a possible reason ? The phone is on the latest 2.0.2, would a future apple update solve this ?

The hard part is that my old 2G iPhone works perfectly. ( Which is great but.....)

Any help appreciated.

Default Audi Phone Prep

Hi, I have a 58 reg Audi TT and i have the same problems but also the contacts do not show on the drivers computer and I get a 'please wait' message when I press the menu button on the steering wheel. I have been told by Audi that the iphone is not compatable with the audi phone prep-what a waste of money!
Can anyone advise

It's not related to an Audi, but my iphone 3g used to work perfectly with my Fords built in bluetooth, but since I did the upgrade to 2.0.2 I can no longer accept calls in the car, the phone rings correctly but when I answer the call I cant hear them, and they cant hear me, I have to ring them back whereby it works perfectly.

If I de-bond the phone from the audio system, delete the pairing, then re-bond it, it works for the first call I recieve, then wont let me answer the next call
