Default Brake pad warning - strange?

I've got a strange problem with my 55 plate A4.

The brake pad warning light comes on randomly, I've checked the pads and they're not worn nor is the sensor.
Sometimes the light won't come on for weeks, then if I press the horn it beeps straight away?
Then it intermittently comes on when the car is started.

Anybody have a clue what might be causing this?

Water can get into the short wiring loom for the front sensor that is also the loom for the wheel speed sensor. This water causes the wire to go high resistance or give a poor connection. The plug is easy to get to with the front wheel off, worth just disconnecting the plug. It'll either be wet and need a bit of a clean or some muppet will have broken the securing tag when swapping the pads - this will allow the plug to come apart slightly.

hi, there are two probible causes for this, one is a vehicle battery fault and the other is not alowing for the glow period on cold starts causing residual current between the brake warning indicator and glow plug curcuit.. there is a modification to install a relay between these two curcuits.
hope this helps
