Default TTS : Visit to local dealer.....wow

Well as expected when I saw this thing I could not believe it.
What a superb motor, it had most of the options plus the 19" wheels, which really did make a difference, never thought I would agree with this size but trust me the car does look awesome.
The rear end looks quite fat, bit like a boxster.
A mini R8 is how the dealer principle described it.

Mini R8? I wouldn't go that far LOL.

It's a lovely car though. As long as you don't get one with an orange interior.

In the usual inconsistent Autocar way they really rate it today against the BMW 1 series coupe and the Boxster.

Just trying to work out the savings plan for when I can afford it

The TTS hasn't been selling as well as expected (cridit crunch etc, quite a lot of cash for a TT when you compare it specced up to other cars - the one I borrowed was over 40K) so I suspect you'd find one fairly quickly. I have an order slot at Coventry that is just about to be cancelled if you want that one!

Yes its a stunning car, I borrowed the demo S-tronic last week from Listers. I disagree with the 19" wheel view - to big for the car IMO, the 18"s are very smart in the flesh and plenty big enough. car gets the power down very well because of the Haldex and the magnetic ride is without doubt superb. But it didn't feel any faster than my remapped standard 2.0T, it just didn't kick traction in as it wasn't sending it all through the front wheels. But would I pay another 15K to change my 56 plate 2.0T? Nope, not at the moment.

It certainly isn't a mini R8 though, much as I love it! Dealers talk such a load of plop!!

I suspect there maybe a few cancelled orders around as LF state's but I wouldn't set your expectations at being able to pick up a bargain!

They were on a strict dealer allocation and i know that inside the franchise network they were scrabbling to allocate the unsold vehicles around each other! This was even before the official brochure was available in paper format!

I think the residuals will be pants when the RSTT comes out also

saw a Roadster yesterday, Sprint Blue ( ? ) looked veeery nice, however....... one of the mags copared with the Boxster S and said there was no case if you wanted a drivers car...... the Boxster was it. Price wise the Porsche is more expensive but not by that much - depends how many extra boxes you tick !!

ot sure how you can compare the TTS to a Boxster S and claim they are close on price.

The TTS Roadster is £35385 and it comes with Leather as std, xenon's, leather around instrument cluster, magnetic ride, short shift, heated seats.

To spec the Boxster S to this level you would end up with a £8,000 difference. Even as std there is a £5k difference

The boxster isnt an option for me as I need 4 seats. Even if it was, its too expensive, looks dated (even though it still looks better than its ugly sister the Cayman).
The TTS costs less to run, service etc and comes with the benefit of less chance of vandalism.

ome interesting views. One of my recent cars was the 2.0T. The TTS is in a different league. Sure you can remap the 2.0T and it wont be far short of the TTS,
but as anyone knows that has driven the std car in the wet it struggles and fast getaways are a no no. Whilst lighter the handling on the 2.0T can match the TTS and with its
Sports ESP and uprated mag ride it understeers way less. It also sounds a hell of a lot nicer.

Not sure the TTS is really struggling to sell, although as people in the city lose their jobs there will of course be cancellations.

I usually own 2-3 different cars each year and have enjoyed time in an R32, M3 and RS4 amongst others. My TTS has drawn more attention than any other cars Ive owned.
Had more people compliment me on my choice to a point were its embarrasing.

Is it a mini R8?. Never driven one, but the TTS is a damn good car.
