Nuts! Both yellow warning lights came on and stayed on this AM on way to work.
Does the additoion of the ESP mean a sensor is fecked or would this come on anyhow? Btw my works firewall does not allow TT forum access so trying here first. Thanks

Always a concern when warning lights come on but I seem to recall that a yellow light is less serious than red... not much comfort, BUT.... the ABS can show up a warning light if some small obstruction interferes with the sensor(s) on the wheels .. a small stone, a piece of stick/wood can do it. Perhaps a check and a clean behind the discs near the bottom of each driveshaft would solve the problem.
The ESP light is getting a confused signal from the ABS as it 'thinks' it's required to operate due to the faulty ABS. Maybe this is a load of rubbish... but a well meaning attempt to help! D. |

Dallan - your diagnosis isn't far wrong.. well at least the bit about it being a load of rubbish
(joke..)Chad, it is likely to be as simple as a sensor, the ESP light isn't on because it thinks it needs to intervene, it's on to warn you of the fact that the ESP system isn't working so you'll have no traction control or stability help should the worst happen. It can also come up for some other random faults but as the ABS light is on then I think we can point towards a sensor. Also note that ESP and ABS lights are only yellow and can't go red ![]()

OK Car looked at today and the diag said error in ABS Sensor xx and error in ABS Control ECU. The ABS Sensor is to be replaced next Thurs. and fingers crossed it will remove the ABS Control error in the diag that was done too. The garage reckons so.
Hoping this ABS Control error will go away as the garage send they cannot replace and re-program these, a dealer job apparently. Stuff that. The diag also kindly told me my temp sensor was shot too, so getting that done as well. Which is bizzare cause my temp guage has always been as high as 90 and no more so.

I would expect the controller error to disappear once the sensor has been replaced and the faut codes cleared. As for the temp sender, there are two sides to it - one for the dash gauge and one that send info to the ECU, so you won't necessarily see a fault in day to day driving

Sorted no more dodgy dashlights, just praying now that the ABS light does not come back on.
Local indie VW Rescue Ltd to er, the rescue again with their cheap labour rate. Superb. Cheers
