Default Why does my e92 coupe do this?

Sometimes (very occasionally) I go to open the door on my 320d coupe and as I touch the door handle the window drops halfway down. Now normally it only drops an inch or two but very occasionally much further. Does anyone know why this happens? I've read the manual but to no avail...

The windows drop a little so that they can re-seal once the door is shut.

Also there is the facility if the windows are down for you to close them (whilst locking the car) when you hold down the BMW badge on the key fob.

If they sometimes drop a little further it needs ti be looked at by your dealer maybe.

Thanks Gareth

I think I've worked it out. If you press the unlock button on the fob once to unlock, the windows drop an inch or so. If you press the unlock button twice in quick succession, the window drops halfway. I can only guess it's a deliberate feature. In fact it's really useful when trying to get into the car in a tight space because the extra drop gives you a bit more room to manoeuvre.

This is precisely the purpose of the feature - very useful too!

And if you keep the "unlock" button pressed - it'll take them all the way down - very useful on hot days!

It does this so it's easier to get into the car if you're parked close to a car next to you, so that when your sliding in, the window doesn't get in the way.

Wrong turn? Have I arrived in the "Dukes of Hazard" forum?

Personally, I find that its the distance between the door edge and the "B" pillar that dictates the ease of entry and for me the window never constricted this ....

The E92 has frameless doors So lowering the window makes a massive difference.

I once got in when the car was in a tight gap, and the corner of the window got me right under the ear. Needless to say a big round of F bombs were dropped, so as far as i'm concerned it works very well.
