Come on, let's get a sense of perspective here......
If you don't want to press the button to alert other Road Angel users that there's a live camera van then don't, it's your choice - you don't have to ! (just like your radio, air con, etc) On the other hand, if you're not prepared to contribute to the Road Angel 'community' don't moan about receiving warnings about potential mobile sites that turn out to be negative ! Let's not get to sanctimonius about this, if none of us ever broke the speed limit, premeditated or otherwise, we'd never need to buy one of these devices in the first place. .....and whilst I'm in grumpy mode: The potential mobile camera sites flagged on the RA Professional Connected are no worse than any other database, whether that's TomTom, Garmin or PocketWorldGPS - on the basis of the 'community' update function it could easily be argued it's better. To conclude, if you don't like the device and think there are better ones out there, why don't you recover most of your money on EBay, you 'd get over £200 back based on today's auctions. For me, I'm a satisfied customer who's happy to recommend this device, based on experience and other competitive products - the larger the RA Professional Connected community, the better and more accurate the information about mobile camera sites. ....let's try and re-focus on the problem we are all trying to address here, namely the Police with their speed cameras. |

I don't agree with the 70 mph limit at all. That doesn't mean that I drive over 70 whenever possible, it just means when road conditions allow doing so safely. We all see examples every day of seriously bad driving at speeds far less than 50, let alone 70. These devices are all alert systems and are a very useful driving aid, in my opinion. Quote:

....IIRC, the thread is about the Road Angel Professional Connected and not about the Police merely doing the jobs they are told to do by government legislation.

Well i decided to treat myself and buy a Road Angel Professional Connected, and i have to say compared with the older road angel i had , i am less than impressed. I admit to liking the odd gadget and expecting something from Star Trek. so far i ve had something from Fred Dinenages days at How! . Even though i have registered it , so far it seems not to accept that fact.I turn it on , it finds the sats, but after a few mins turns itself off. After driving along doing battle with it for half an hour i give up and put it on the seat. Not to be beaten i decide it might be i need to download some updates from the web, but after more half hours fighting for it to see my PC , it will not update and keeps erroring. I decided to try the on line help to see if i could find something there, but didnt have any luck. I have called them and hope they will call me back to see if they can sort it out. I wasn t going to subscibe till i knew it worked and i am glad i didn't. I honestly didn't intend to give this product a bad review and was going to post to you how well i had got on with it, but i have to say so far a very BIG dissapointment. I was planning on taking it with me on holiday in a couple of weeks time, but looks like i am going to go back to my old model, and take this one back.

Well , to give them credit they called back, and emailed me instructions on how to do an upgrade to it. Did take me a while to go through it all, but i have to say i used the Road Angel this morning and for the first time it seems to be working ! Will see how i fair with it over the next few weeks.

My advice would be to avoid the RA connected and go with the Pogo ALert, the Database for the pogo is far more accurate than RA's despite their protests to the opposite.

Thanks for the welcome and advice chaps. Gutted the RA Connected is so poor as it sounded like the ideal device.
I am a bit of noob on this sort of thing... Are the RA Connected and the Pogo Alert just GPS devices or are they detectors as well? Apologies in advance if the question is naive Thanks |
