Default Concert II

I have recently fitted a Concert II into my B5 S4 and it is linked to a Dension Gateway 100 in the glovebox and everything works just fine with one exception! Every now and then the unit switches off, briefly displays BOSE and then opporates normally until it happens again!!
There does not seem to be any pattern to this and some times it will be fine for upto an hour then it will behave as above 2 or 3 times inside 10 mins.

This is somewhat annoying and something i would very much like to resolve.

Any ideas??

A similar problem affects retrofits of the RNS-E into the B5, which has been discussed on Navigation Forum

IIRC the cause is suspected to be related to the timing of keep-alive messages on the CAN bus.

Is this something that can be resolved with VAG COM in an adaption channel?

Oh now i am a bit stuck then!!

Following on from that i now have this issue.

Last week i sent my DIS away to be replaced and today for the first time i tried to use my Sat Nav but to no avail!

It is the older version with the controls down by the handbrake and verbal instructions via a small speaker in the drivers door and visual directions in the DIS.
All was working fine up until i sent the DIS away to be replaced.

I have already tried removing the disc and the relevant fuse to try and reboot it but with no luck, i do however get a message when replacing the disc or fuse saying that the language has been stored

So my question is, is there a sequence that i need to go through to reboot the system?

There are no faults shown on VAG COM so am hoping that it may be at worst a coding issue.

The instruments need to be correctly coded to enable them to display the sat nav info.

Check the value in adaptation channel 62 of the instruments. You'll probably have a value like 1 or 17, it needs to be 5 or 21 to display the sat nav info.

It's a bitwise value:

+1 = display radio info
+2 = display phone info
+4 = display sat nav info
+8 = display telematic info - US only
+16 = needed by some newer instruments

Have checked the codes and it was set to 5 already!!.

Tried it on 21 but still no good!

Do i need to drive the car around to get it to find some satelites or is the new DIS knackered?

Sometimes it takes 24 hours for the changed value to work - something weird to do with sequence numbers of the CAN bus messages.

Even if you're receiving 0 satellites the DIS will still show something from the RNS-E.

Thanks for your input Dave

I have left it set to 21 and have been for a drive around so will see what transpires in the next couple of days.

When i reinstalled the cluster to the car i followed the instructions that came back from the repairers which was to connect all wiring plugs ( 3 in total ) and then switch the ignition onto the acc/aux setting for 25 mins before then turning on the ignition and or starting the car.

Does this sound right, could i have cocked that bit up and if so would removing it again ( and if so for how long ) put it back into this state and be worthy of another try??

Sorry for all the questions guy's
