Default Losing unread SMS messages

I paired the wife's 6500c to the RS at the weekend because she was driving. She received an SMS just as we were getting out, and we didn't read it.

We hopped out and the SMS was not on the 6500c. Fair enough, it might be in the car.

When we got back in, both unread and read messages were empty.

One missing SMS and one angry missus.

Anyone else seen this behaviour and know:

1. What causes it
2. How to prevent it

RS what? - the RS4 and RS6 have different phone systems so it's impossible to answer without knowing.

Well the clue was the fact he received an SMS, only the rSAP system receives SMS and that is only available currently in the mmi High cars, so RS6.

I can't answer what happened though.

Could have been a SIM update - they can turn up like proper texts and, depending on the device, can delete themselves after processing

He never said that the SMS appeared on the MMI, just that he received an SMS. Since most phones beep when you receive an SMS you know that an SMS has arrived even on the non-MMI system.

So what he has said does not 100% prove it's an RS6.

Good point.

Nevertheless I still think saying "the RS" is unhelpful... the description "the RS" applies to RS2, RS4 and RS6 and IMHO anyone asking for help and giving such cryptic clues should expect some confusion. After all there's only one Miss Marple ...

That's just cheating... We want a level playing field if we're going to play "Guess the Car"

No Biscuits or Treacle Pudd for you this week
