Ok, I'm gonna be brave and get the machine out on the Golf before I sell it. Its flat red, with a clear top coat. I think the previous owner washed it with a scourer??!!
Anyway, I'm not looking for an awesome finish, I'm just looking to improve it. So what would be the easiet, safest, most effective product to use with my rotary polisher?

Hello
IF you already have a rotary and want to improve the looks then get something like Megs 80 as it has a bit of cut and fill, alternativily Elite car care has a sample pack of Menzerna polishes which you would use just one of them to reduce the problem or 2 of them in 2 step process to get rid all of the swirls. Or as mentioned just put some SRP over the car, the machine will work it in well so the filling is even more effective. Geoff

If it were me I would do like Geoff and go for soemthing like Megs #80 or Menz FF 106Fa on a polishing pad - broken down fully (which the Menz will do quicker) this will offer a good level of cut and excellent gloss.
That said SRP on a polishing pad will do a good job of filling the swirls and will be much faster job, but just top it off with a wax. Also consider Dodo Need for Speed works well by machine also. HTHs ![]()

SRP by machine on a polishing pad is very good - use 2 small blobs set to a medium speed and do several slow-medium paced passes. Once worked in remove with a MF. This was SRP by machine followed by collinite 915 wax:

When you see superb results like that obtained by using relatively cheap traditional polishes / waxes it's very hard to justify buying the very expensive products isn't it. Obviously the skill is in the application.
Nice work ![]()

I'd definately consider some menzerna PO106FA. This is their finishing polish but has a nice amount of cut. Used in conjusnction with something like a Meguiars yellow polishing pad it will really bring up the shine.
The other alternative is the sampler kit which will give you the full range of polsihes to try. You may well find on Audi paint that even for light swirl removal Intensive Polish 3.02 might be required. Tim p.s Alex, that looks lovely, Collinite #915 is a cracking wax. |
