This is excellent info and extremely well presented. Can it be made into a 'sticky' please?

Is a Bosch DA orbital sander any good for polishing? (With a foam pad and appropriate backing plate of course)

I know this might be a bit of a newbie question but what kind of weather is best to tackle swirls with a PC?
The reason I ask is that on my colour car you only see the swirls clearly in reasonably bright sunlight, so I can only see if I'm getting rid of them on a sunny day. Is this ideal? If not what can I do? I'm under the impression you shouldn't do this kind of thing when it's too warm. |

It's best if you can get some powerful halogen lights on a stand to check your your paintwork for swirl removal as you go along.
Something like these although I've seen then cheaper on e-bay

Hello all,
not sure if this is the correct thread to post this but ca you advise please. I had a small scratch on the car door and decided to tackle the issue myself. i did an awsome job of filling it in using halford needle chip kit, it is a super stop chip kit. I did as advised by filling in layer at a time. however i was advised by a muppet in halford to not bother with a sanding block but to fold the wetn dry 2000 several times and use the corners to sand down. all was going well till i started doing as he advised. i didnt use much preasure at all however as a result it looked fine but when you look at it in a angle wherre the light bounces off the door it looks like very small pimple dents. Now I know some cars are like tin but I have a VW passat which is well built if you ask me. is it possible that it is not a dent. could it be i have sanded down that area too much leaving it look like pimple dents? |
