I don't think they'll ban it. I think they'll make it mandatory, thereby forcing me to spend the money on it.

Later, we'll discover that half the Cabinet bought shares in the company that supplies the system. A thorough independent investigation, chaired by the Prime Minister to give it the necessary weight, will find that this did not affect the decision in any way and therefore the Ministers are free to continue in their posts. Then they'll point out that the CO2 figure that matters is the official one when the car was made, therefore I also have to pay £400 VED....

But isn't the vehicle tax class system based on what the emissions are on a car direct from the manufacturer, i.e. their claimed figures. So even if you fitted one of these to your car and could prove it reduced CO2 emissions, they wouldn't reduce your group as your car is still in the system as having a higher CO2 rate? Does that make sense?
