The V6 will also produce a much nicer sound than the 1.8T
Stick to the V6!

Not really, you could map that to 190bhp+. Mate had one that was mapped to 200bhp and it never felt sluggish.

Yeah, it wasn't quick as such, but it never felt slow, and definitely felt quicker than my 2.5tdi A4 Avant.
You have the Porsche for having fun, so I would just get something that is comfy. That is why I like the Merc so much, it is just really easy to waft around in, good stereo, cosy and easy to drive. I have to be honest and say that I thought I would use it once a week maybe, for those times when it was raining and I needed to take the dog, or when I was tired and couldn't be bothered with the M3, but it is getting used 90% of the time, the M3 is now only if Fiona has taken the Merc out (she now loves it and thinks we should buy a new one!) and I need a car or when I want to go out for a proper 'drive'. Which is great as it means that even with my short attention span maybe the M3 will stay around a little longer than most. A6 was a good car and I enjoyed it, but it is not a patch on the Merc for out and out comfort, there is something about a Merc, you drive it differently, even the throttle repsose is set up for crusing round, it is not sharp like the Audi or BMW's, so you waft around and get there relaxed, M3 and E Class is the perfect combo for me right now. Try one, you might really like it. ![]()

Hi, new on here but Mook, Avantb6, duisbergkid etc all know me.
Not going to suggest a particular car but just bear in mind if economy plays any part in your decision at all then forget diesel. You need to be doing in excess of 40k a year to see any savings over a petrol car as diesel is more expensive to buy, so at approx 5k a year you'd save more money in a petrol (unless your talking V8's etc of course). Obviously some people (myself included) love the torquey driving experience of modern diesels, so there is still a case to be had for diesel!
