Huge fan of Mk2 Golf GTi's (and ex-owner).

But for me, 2 stand out - firstly, very biased as an ex-owner (mine was Red), but a Mitsubishi Starion 2.0 Turbo EX (Widebody) - not the 2.6 yank-engined one....

......and the AE86 Corolla (RWD) - unfortunately, i didnt buy one

An excellent topic Mook...

Some good choices from other TSNers, Ferrari 412i, Opel Manta and of course the obligatory MK2 Gti. Always had a soft spot for the Starion too, fond memories of Jons red on on Scumball '06.

I've always loved these, looked at loads over the years, simply never been able to find one that isn't rotten though. MK1 MR2 :

RX7, both mk1 and mk2 -

Renault Alpine -

But this is the one for me, an 80s classic ('scuse crap pic), Porsche 944 Turbo.

Good thread

The F40 also gets a thumbs up from me. So does the 308 GTS and 288 GTO

Can I not get away with the 205 GTI? Think this was 1990 wasn't it? Or did they creep around at the end of '89?

As I was only a little nipper in the Eighties - I can only go by what my brothers used to own and what I saw on the TV.

So here's some of my faves.

You could get one around 85 I think - was that C reg? The 1.9 GTI was a bit later on, but it's definitely an 80s classic

330D, some good stuff there !

Astra GTE 16V with digital dash ! I was conviced it was the quickest car in the world when a mate had one, burgundy, ace ! With the benefit of hindsight, it was simply crap though !

Porker 959 nice too.

I think these just about qualify as an 80's car - Merc SL. Another one for the dream garage...

This is the Daddy though :

I once worked with a gay Frenchman who had a white 'B' plated 1.6 Gti.
