Default My new commuter/tourer

Always a proud day when you get a new bike

I've just bought a 1991 VFR750... Nice condition. A bit of scope for some cosmetic TLC. Cheap. Runs well... like new in fact. I've always liked these bikes. Great engine and very well built. It sounds great... I'm going to use it for riding to work and perhaps a bit of a tour of NZ. I still have my Blade and will still use it for blasts and trackdays and when I get that urge for something ballistic....

I've been looking at smaller bikes for a while.... something to use for work and could may be do some touring on. Had to be built for the road (not the track) and be comfy. I looked at the Kawa Versys or the BMW F650... Then I saw this and I thought.... hang on - this is a fraction of the price those and I know they are great bikes... it's just the job... why not.... so here we are. Practical quality biking for less....

well as tumbleweed seems to be blowing through this thread I thought I'd update yerz on me new bike...

I 'kin love this bike in so many ways.... Its very easy to be chasing all the new technology etc.. more power, less weight and all that....I know I've done plenty of that... but this bike is perfect for the job I had in mind - a 32 mile each way commute and perhaps a bit of touring and a bit of fun.... The engine is powerful, smooth and sounds just great. Its a perfect "road" engine.... Its comfortable - the ergos are perfect - the fairing is brill... the seat feels like a sofa after my blade.... I could do hundreds of miles on this as opposed to about 100 on the blade before having to be winched from the thing..... I think it still looks the bollocks. It feels like a new bike despite 30K+ miles... Its cheap - This bike cost about £1500... It is an absolute pleasure to ride... I'm well chuffed...

Excellent mate, I've been advised to go for something similar for a main bike while I'm saving for my fun toy

Well add my name to that list... there's lots of well pampered VFRs out there and they are wonderful bikes

Don't know enough to really comment on it.

It looks in great nick and as you're very happy with it then you can't go wrong

I think there's something about the older VFR's that has been lost in the newer models.

£1500 can't be bad I'm glad you're enjoying it

Can't beat a nice V4, why that engine configuration isn't more widely adopted is beyond me.
