One question : What is this bike like to ride to work and back on all year round ? It is really a practical commuter for a 5ft 7'' bloke who does a lot of filtering and only wants it to use as daily transport..... i am concerned about the seat height, and the wet weight of the bike for those all important slow speed moves you have to do when your in the ''thick of it'' every morning and evening ? I really like the look of the bike and the combination of built quality, speed and price.

I've ridden one... They are great bikes but I'd say it was a bit big both for job you describe and for you at your height. I do a similar run (32 miles each way of open road and heavy traffic) each day on my VFR750 - I find it perfect because its comfortable, fast enough and manouverable in traffic. There's real fun to be had flinging a bike about in traffic - I'd miss that on a big bike like a Blackbird. If I was into touring or long distance work -the Blackbird would be superb - still one of the best.
For commuting I would go for a bike with a good upright seating position with a decent seat and isn't too big or heavy for thick traffic. If you use the open road at speed, get a faired bike. Its whatever ticks all the boxes for you...if you really like the Blackbird - get one. ... but consider the following : BMW F800 Kawasaki Versys 650 (Great commuter/tourer) Kawasaki ER6 (N or F) Honda 900 Hornet Honda VFR800 or save a stack of cash and get a nice VFR750. Honda CBR600 Triumph Tiger (quite big though) Last edited by Mort; 03-09-2008 at 06:02 AM. |
