  1. The Clutch pedal switch likes to disintegrate on Audis. This can stop cruise working without showing up a fault (signal is always reading pedal pressed). You can test using measuring blocks in vag com
  2. Another flat battery

Just a thought have you checked the drain holes beneath the battery tray & servo are clear. These were blocked with pine needles on mine & the water rose to the height of the pollen filter and entered the cabin. I also assume it gained entry to the electrolyte of the battery through the vent hole as the battery performance deteriorated considerably to the point of needing to buy an new one. Edited to add: The blocked drain holes are a very common problem on the A4
  3. Nintendo DS

R4/M3 adapter costs about £24 (without SD card) it takes a Micro SD card up to 4GB but in reality as it does not support SDHC so only 2 GB is readily available. Officially this micro SD card is for playing home brew software, video & music but 99% of people use it for downloaded game NDS roms for free (about 40 will fit on a 2 GB card). So on the games side you are either ok with piracy or use it as a try before you buy or keep your originals at home and only play backup versions of what you actually own.
  4. When girls don't put out!!

I received this today, first time I have seen it so sorry if it has been posted before, I found it funny so thought I would share. When girls don't put out!! This was written by a guy ... it's pretty damn smart. Girls -- Please have a sense of humour! I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart. FOR EXAMPLE: One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me." I said, "WHAT??!! What was that?!" So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear... "You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman, enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man." She responded to my puzzled look by saying, "Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?" Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep. The very next day I opted to take the day off work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn’t decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, "Lets get a pair for each outfit." We went on to the jewellery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis. I think I threw her for a loop when I said, "That's fine, honey." She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, "I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier." I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No honey, I don't feel like it." Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, "WHAT?" I then said, "Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man, enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman." And just when she had this look as she was going to kill me, I added, "Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?" Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either....but at least that bi**h knows I'm smarter than her.
  5. Resetting service to AVS variable Longlife ?

If you have the licence yes it will reset back to long life. Unless the previous owner has used vag com to alter the other settings (unlikely) like oil quality maximum mileage etc. but this can be altered back using the settings in this link. linkyI know its VW but it’s the same engine and adaptation code
  6. Resetting service to AVS variable Longlife ?

You can change to AVS on a B6 using version 409.1 (which is the latest shareware version) and a non genuine Ross Tech lead but you need to buy a licence for it (IIRC £50). The shareware version will not allow you to save the adaptation the full version of 409 will. VAG Com procedure. [select] [17 - Instruments] [Adaptation - 10] Enter channel 02 [Read] The "Stored Value" is the current value for that channel. Enter the "New" value of 0 (zero) [Test] [save]
  7. topgear night

[ QUOTE ] but provided you view it as just enternainment it doesn't really matter. TG long since ceased being factual. [/ QUOTE ] That’s how I have viewed it for years and I do enjoy it, I was just surprised at my observational skills seeing as my wife says I am observant as a lump of coal.
  8. topgear night

Did anyone else notice JC use his hand to push the Rover wing mirror off during his run?
  9. Temp Sensor on 1.9(130)

Someone did a tech article on this linky The only difference to how I did it was that I removed the air box for easer access instead of the pipe. This gives you a lot better access than the access from above(I was replacing the Air filter at the time as well) & I removed the coolant cap & refitted it to cause a vacuum to slow the coolant from coming out. If it’s a black sensor you will most likely have a problem.
  10. Cr*p cars you have a soft spot for....

Triumph Stag : Looked awesome parked on my street when i was as a kid, the reason it was parked was the exploding V8. TR7 : I had a blue Scalextric TR7 when I was young I loved the looks but it was a crap Scalextric car as well.
  11. Air bricks

The airbricks should be built into the external wall above the finished ground level to prevent rain /snow water from entering the ventilator. They would usually be positioned at a similar level to the ground level DPC. So in your case placing it the same level as the chemically injected DPC will not be a problem. Chemical injected DPC is just a water repellent that coats the pores in the brick / mortar to stop capillary pull and the dampness rising and not an actual physical barrier. If you replace the treated brick with a terracotta or plastic air brick the air brick does not need to be treated as it does not contain the same pores. (I am not a fan of chemical injected DPC as a remedial treatment along with the BRE and RICS) You can accommodate a higher placement of airbrick with telescopic / flexible cavity tubes which usually accommodate up to 5 courses of brick between the internal and external vents. How old is the house? If built after 1900 then it should have airbrick and possibly an original DPC (late 1900's) they may be blocked by a rise in the outside ground level at some time. I would definitely removing the concrete before flagging most damp problems I come across at work are caused by an increase in outside ground levels.
  12. I beat James Toseland in a race once. When he was racing for Castrol Honda riding CBR600 in the World Supersport series. They had a promotional Honda motorcycle riding simulator and a group was invited down from Robinsons and James was doing the PR work. We set up a race and goaded James to take part & I managed to set the fastest time round the course, but strangely the simulator told me I had failed my Japanese bike test. He was only about 16 at the time but what a nice lad we had a right laugh with him since then I have always followed his career. Well done James
  13. Police shoot out tyres to stop vehicle.

I have shot a 53gm 3” magnum Max Game cartridge (at a door laid on an earth back stop) quite a kick but manageable if you are only doing a few shots. Out of my two competition shotguns the Berretta is proofed for 3” magnum load the Browning is only proofed for 2.75” normal loads. But most companies now are proofing all their shotguns to 3” magnum loads even though you can only use 2.75” 28 gm loads for competition I guess mainly for safety reasons as some people at my clay club do not know the difference between the loads and weather they can use them or not. It’s very worrying that the licensing procedure makes sure that the person is stable and will not harm others but it offers no guidelines on their own safety.
  14. Do you drive a van, better look in here then

If the van is only ever used by one person then you do not need to display the no smoking sign. It’s only required if more than one person uses the van as a passenger or driver for paid or voluntary work. So if the driver was the only user of the van he was wrongly fined but the problem with a roadside check is how do you prove no one else uses the van at any other time.
  15. Honda SP1

In my experience the VTR SP1 and the RSV Mille are quite good under engine braking not too fierce for a V twin. The VTR firestorm and the SV650 on the other hand are very harsh so much so I have lost count of how many Datatool gearbox indicators I have been asked to fit to Firestorms so you do not clog it down into first by mistake and are nearly spat off. It takes a while to fully adapt to the v twin but its fun once you do.
