I think the only people that made an assumption that the GTI was as quick as an R32 are those people that have and prefer the GTI. VW are not going to release a car that is marketed as their top of the range most powerful variant only for it to be no quicker than the model down. The book times show the R32 is quicker so not sure where the problem is. Having said that....on the road the difference will be very slim and no-one in a R32 should think that in a drag race they are going to leave a GTI for dust. Oh - and I much prefer the look of the GTI...R32 does nothing for me and if I was spending £27k (with options) on a car it wouldn't be a golf.

Can someone explain more about the phone prep and why it is useless. From my understanding if you have the DVD sat nav then it also integrates into the display - telling you who is calling and auto dimming the sound etc ?? The only bad thing I have heard is that you need a specific VW cradle as well - but these can be purchased at the time of order. Why does it look so cr@p - is it not very tidy?

Anyone got the phone prep in their GTi? Looking on the VW site it specifies that you must have a phone cradle as well. Do you need a specific phone or does the cradle come with adaptors? One more question - does it work with the DVD Sat Nav screen ? Thanks

The auto lights on my BMW are fantastic...one of the best features. They do seem lazy sometimes - it can be fairly bright and they won't turn off but whats the problem with that ? Haven't had anyone in 2 years think I was flashing them and can't see it happenning either (personally).

Couple of quick questions for you GTI folk……. Does the GTI come with auto wipers (rain sensing) ? Does the GTI come with auto headlights (when dark they come on etc) ? My current car has these and I find them very useful. Thanks

A boring question I know but I have some questions on the running costs of the new GTI. Can someone help me with the below…… What is the servce interval of the GTI? I assume it is done using the computer onboard and varies depending on driving style but anyone know the average….? What are the expected service costs? Are they major and minor services? How long is the warranty… 3 years and how many miles ? Thanks for your help, Linford
