  1. MK Meet - Wednesday 3rd August

Weather's not looking too clever at the moment, so it's not going to be the semi-slicks this year and will be running R1-R's (which all but guarantees the weather will be scorching now).
  2. MK Meet - Wednesday 3rd August

Can't make it, this month. Leaving for a couple of trackdays at Le Mans, this evening.
  3. MK Meet - Wednesday 1st June

I love that section. It's what makes the drive to/from North Walsham for some extra VX trickery worthwhile. Miserable in rush hour though on that silly stretch of single carriageway through Elvedon though.
  4. MK Meet - Wednesday 1st June

Good to see/meet you all again chaps (and chapess). Must make more of an effort to get along to the next one. Had a very rapid run home made all the better by the diesel E class estate that was in front, doing a Scandinavian flick on the roundabout at the bottom of the Newport Pagnell bypass and getting a good drift going. At least, I'm assuming he did it on purpose.
  5. MK Meet - Wed 2 June

No 24 heures for me this year. But, as a consolation, I've got a trackday on the Le Mans Bugatti circuit next Monday instead. Am struggling to get the car prep'd, so it might not be in the VX but I'll be there.
  6. MK Meet - Wed 5 May

Sorry folks. Only just got back from the office, so I guess I missed it.
  7. As a consolation to those stuck in strange cities around Europe due to the no-fly zone, Lonely Planet have reduced the price of their European city guides to nothing through iTunes. Might be worth a download of the 13 guides if you like the Lonely Planet way of doing things.
  8. MK Meet - Wed 7 April

Indeed it was. :notworthy: Hope the journey home was a little more sedate. :D
  9. Suspension setup and corner weighting

Know a few places that specialise in Elise/VX's in the Midlands but probably not much help. APS have the full Beissbarth(?) setup. There's also Chris at Centre Gravity who has a really good reputation, primarily on Porker's but lots of other stuff as well.
  10. iPhone: What network?

I'd be holding off getting one at all now, if I were you, and waiting to see what the 4th generation brings in June/July.
  11. Audi S4 supercharged V6 2009 - Review....

Similar process but also brings the option of changing the pulley size for added boost as well.
  12. Piloti Shoes

I've got some Piloti Laguna's (the subtle ones that look more like regular casual shoes). Nice and comfortable with a decent thin but surprisingly stiff sole. I used to use Puma speedcats and similar out on track but I found the heels a bit too narrow and chunky (was going to say high then but thought better of it) when walking and would sometimes "roll over the edge". The Piloti's heel is much better in that respect. YMMV.
  13. Audi A4 Avant 2.0T FSi

Yep, Milltek'd all the way through.
  14. Audi A4 Avant 2.0T FSi

Ben, I might be up for a bit of remappery on mine after removing the last one when the car had to go back for some warranty work. What do you recommend on the induction front? Some Carbonio bling? What's the story on the uprated fuel pumps - will I need one?
  15. MK Meet - Wed 3 February

    I'll be there.
  16. MK Meet - Wed 2 December

Was hoping to get there but not looking likely now. Off to Dublin in the morning and too much to work to sort out first.
  17. 997 RS mk 2

I went on a driving experience day at the MIRA proving ground at Nuneaton yesterday, primarily to give an R8 V10 a quick spanking. But, they'd just taken delivery of the new GT3 RS (although the guy there insisted on calling it the GT3 RSR) in red with matt black graphics. Not available to drive but I got 5 passenger laps around the 3 mile outer bowl with some 1970's ex-F1 driver, Mike Wilds. Impressions from outside: Very mean and aggressive and sat very close to the ground. Don't know whether it's the new 997 front end but it looked smaller than the 997 C2S that was also there. Looked gorgeous in the RS livery with some extra matching decals for the experience company and not at all over the top. Rear wing didn't look at all out of place within the whole track car look. Impressions from the passenger seat: It had what I assume was standard leather sport seats (didn't seem to be uber thin carbon backed jobbies) and no harnesses, just 3-point belts. Seats were quite narrow so I'd need to a skinnier ass, if it was mine. Fook me, it goes and goes well. Rear end stepped out a little on a full bore start but didn't seem to need much in the way of correction to straighten it up. Lovely noise which wasn't at all over the top for everyday road use. Absolutely no drama entering the 33-36 degree banked section at 160mph (although it takes a leap of faith not too want to interfere with the steering when entering the banking) but reckon one of the wheels wasn't balanced properly as there was a bit of high frequency vibration. Low speed ride was firm but not at all uncomfortable and was probably less crashy than the S-line suspension on the A4. High speed ride was perfect. Oh and we hit a bird at about 150mph, it clipped the top of the front screen and roof but no damage. The R8 V10? Very nice and had a lovely engine and exhaust note but on the quite tight handling track I actually preferred the normal V8 R8 which just felt a bit lighter and a little more pointy. Damn, I still love that RS4/R8 V8 engine and the noise it makes.
  18. Brazil GP Banter

    Well, Button's bottled it again.
  19. How nice does this sound?

Sounds very F1'esque but kind of think the novelty might wear off after 20 minutes. Fcuked if he'd ever get it anywhere near a track in the UK though. Driving like a bellend on the on-ramp, in true BMW stylee.
  20. MK Meet - Wed 7 October

Currently still stuck in my office - in Chester! And to make things worse I'm in the Citroen C2 of doom as the Audi is at home. Will see how I feel by the time I reach junction 14 but it's not looking likely at the moment.
  21. Wireless Solution needed

Excellent. I hadn't realised it had an XP option, thought it was a bastardised Linux OS. Might still be worth holding out for Windows 7 though (or being prepared to upgrade to it) as it will have a proper "multi touch" interface similar to the iPhone/iPod.
  22. Wireless Solution needed

Cheapest option would probably be to scan the recipes to a memory card of some form and stick the card into one of the LCD photo frame type devices. I think there are some wireless versions that could pick up a shared folder on your PC but they're probably only setup to read image files (jpg's and their ilk). Better option would be to get a very small PC like the Acer Aspire Revo and add a touch screen to it. Might need to wait for Windows 7 so that you can use the built-in multi-touch navigation options unless the mac OS can be hacked to run on it. With this route you'll at least have internet access through it and be able to hook up with other kit you've got at home. Alternatively there is the Asus eee Top which is an all in one touchscreen PC but not sure how flexible the operating system is. Only other options are to look at some of the new Internet Tablet devices. Archos have just launched one and Apple are rumoured to be doing something similar. You'll probably paying a fair bit for features that won't really be of any use though. Biggest problem you're likely to run into is scanning in the various recipes and getting them into a usable format. Running them through some OCR software would be good so that you could save them in a searchable file format (like a pdf type format) but not sure how well OCR would work with the kinds of text formatting of the original recipes.
  23. MK Meet - Wed 7 October

Will try and make it along this month although currently scheduled to be in Chester.
  24. bazza in a GTR...

    Top job, Bazza.
  25. Anyone else seen this?

I saw a brand new Cayman S in Chester the other day, in Porsche's version of brown and was surprised at just how good it looked. If you'd have asked me beforehand about brown I'd have thought :dung: but it really did look good. Think it's a bit of an "anti-white fashion" colour and probably wont be top of the list of desirable colours in a couple of years.
