  1. Great thanks - I'll make sure I mention it when I'm getting mine replaced. JD
  2. Did you need to specify to Autoglass to fit an original VW windscreen ? JD
  3. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This might be of help JD [/ QUOTE ] That explains it! Where can you find those technical bulletins? I wouln't mind getting a copy of the version which covers the rear window wiper motor fault. [/ QUOTE ] I've only got this one and few other TSB's regarding DSG. I got them sent on from a mate in the US (works for a VW dealer) I'm not sure there is one for the rear wiper. I have asked my dealer and my mate and they both said there wasn't one - the only one they could find was for the front wipers JD
  4. This might be of help JD 1228948-vw.tb.96-07-01.pdf
  5. True - Tis a sad day alright. Car theft in Dublin is on the increase and there is lots of high performance cars getting stolen. I even had a friend have his nearly new motor stolen with the keys in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.
  6. Yeah its all over the Irish news and papers at the moment: http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/breaking/2007/0430/breaking5.htm One paper is saying it was a golf worth only a few hundred euros. Although the burnt out picture of the car looks like a MKIV golf.
  7. [ QUOTE ] Great another Irish GTI even if you did get the wrong colour [/ QUOTE ] Not sure about that - grey is the nicest Good to see another Irish GTi owner - good luck with the new car. Looking forward to the pictures. JD
  8. Fresco - sorry to hear what happened to the GTi. I have to say I have never had any problem with parking the GTi in B/Town , but in saying that I don't think I have ever parked the car in any of those car parks for longer than 10 mins Although I have had the all the value caps stolen two separate times There has been a few GTi's stolen lately along with a lot of other fast motors. Theft of these seems to be on the increase. JD
  9. Like this one - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Golfball-DSG-Gear-...oQQcmdZViewItem JD
  10. Joe, Agree with JadeAsha about getting Chipsaway or someone similar to sort out the problem. I certainly wouldn't let the dealer have some monkey just blob some touchup paint onto the sctach. If you are in Dublin or close to - I have VAG-COM and you are more than welcome to have the options for the highline checked - FOC ofcourse JD
  11. Here is a picture of a genuine Monza II wheel – from the inside. As you can see from the picture there is stamps and lettering/numbers on every spoke. JD
  12. Is this any use to you for fitting it yourself ??? JD
  13. Hey Joe Good to hear you got the GTi at last I would be worried about letting the dealer fix the scratch – They might just decide to re-spray the whole panel – which might not match the factory paint How bad is the scratch - is it just in the clear coat or does it go right down to the paint or base coat? Also a quick way to see how bad the scratch is , is to gently run you nail across the scratch and see if you catch you nail in it. Don’t think my headlights get misted up on the inside – although they are so dirty all the time it’s hard to tell Yeah the car is supposed to have the coming home and leaving functions and there is a time you can set on the highline for each – well it does on mine Again I have the lane change function on mine – where you push the indicator briefly down or up and the corresponding indicator flashes 3 times. These few functions might be disabled on the computer, and might need to be activated by Vag-Com . I’ll check mine later if they can be disabled and enabled by Vag-Com. Good luck with the new car JD
  14. Hey Dave, I think i might be having the same problem with mine. Do you know what he did - eg: flash the ecu or just reset the service indicator ? What does you display say now when you check to see when the next service is due ? JD
  15. Hey Paddy, As OliH said it looks to be on LongLife – when you start the car and check when the service is due – does it tell you a time when its due as well as the distance ? If you need it changed you can ask the dealer or I can do it with the VAG-COM if you want. Cheers JD
  16. Hi Barry, I take it this is for the new car - any pics just to see how bad it is ? I'll have a chat with a mate from Cork to see if he can recommend someone locally...if not I can recommend someone in Dublin. Sorry to hear about the wheel JD
  17. These new bulbs are supposed to be good. I have a set on order at the moment. http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/default.asp?...r=&PT_ID=77 I also have Osram Silverstars installed at the moment and find them better than the standard bulbs JD
  18. [ QUOTE ] If you can find a copied version of ETKA the VW parts disc you will find the usefull info on there not the best but at least often shows were the screws/clips are http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10167 Is a link to the USA pdf version and maybe helpful not sure if it includes the sketches the uk version does as i have not really looked at it that much yet. I have cured just about every rattle on the GTI including doors, grill top of the dash, rear seat etc. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the link Geoff , just wondering what did you use to sort the Dash Rattle - Did you use Anti Rattle Tape. Tks JD
  19. Hey Barry, Good luck with the new car - you certainly won't see many other 335D's in Ireland JD
  20. Yeah you will need some one with VAGCOM to disable the DRL's. You need to make one change in Central Electronics in Byte Zero under Long Coding. JD
  21. [ QUOTE ] Hi Paddy, JD, Fellow Irishman here, excitedly waiting delivery on a new GTI myself :-) Can I hijack a little and ask how have you've found the GTI otherwise, in terms of rattles, squeeks, etc? I'm trading an A3, which supposedly has "higher quality plastics!" but that has had more than 1 or 2 annoying rattles in its 2 years... in fact I've avoided bringing it back to the dealers for a current window rattle for the very same reasons you mention Paddy... but now that I'm trading, I'll hardly bother now either Anyway, hope you get it sorted - I specced the highline on mine, but had to investigate it myself cos the dealer never heard of most of the options!! cheers, Joe. [/ QUOTE ] Hey Joe, I've just had the one rattle with mine - it’s with the front passenger seat, but it only happens when the seat is in the lowest position and when someone is sitting in it Other than that the only fault I have is the rear wiper which is due to be replaced under warranty. Hope this helps, JD
  22. Hey Paddy , I'm just getting the rear wiper replaced and the ecu flashed with the latest version. So now big issues - touch wood I just had a look at some technical docs I have from ERWIN and you need to remove the airbag and steering wheel first and then you see two screws which hold in the clocks and from there you need to remove them and pull out the clocks. When you were getting the car fixed the last time did they give you a replacement car ? JD
  23. Hey Paddy, Happy New Year - I only know of one person who had their display replaced (was a Mid-line display) and it was done by Belgard. They done a tidy job - but the owner warned them first about any rattles and not to mark the dash pod etc. He was then told they would get their best Auto Tech to do the work. They said he usually works on Porsche's /Audi and to his credit he didn't leave a mark on the dash. He pod is now working since and has no issues since having it replaced. I suppose you can get warranty work done at any dealer in the first two years - I'm leaving my car in soon with Belgard to get some fiddly warranty work done and probably the first service (depending on the price ) JD
