  1. Hi I have a 2009 X6 35 Xdrive. It has duel climate. I have seen in the new X6 that you can control the temp on both sides of the car with one control by pressing a button on the aircon to link them. I have explored the idrive but cannot find how to do this on my model....any ideas?
  2. Should I buy a Cayman - Help?

Tone, I totally agree about the 1 series its styling is almost as bad as a Cayenne! I like to look at the forums for cars I have had, like I said I used to be the proud owner of a 911 which was a great car if not a dangerous one without a limiter. Moving the engine a bit in the Cayman was probably a stroke of genius. On a lighter note the Trajet doesnt have a limiter either! Same lower front end as the Cayman you will have to agree! Only pulling your leg, it is a great car but you do pay for extras through the nose that are standard on the Z4M (Xenons for instance) If the Posche had them as standard it wouldnt need the daft Hyundai foglights!
  3. Should I buy a Cayman - Help?

I agree with the to**er branding, guess its the price we pay, however how many porsches do you see per journey up against z4ms? Porsche are not very rare these days are they? Re looks the z4m is more masculine than most cars (especially one with a girls name (pronounced Porcsher?). Also check it out...the Cayman has nicked its front fogs from a Hyundai Trajet hasnt it? (see photo) Re Mk1TTs comments I had a 911, nice car but dont like getting ripped off over toys and servicing (I know the beamer is not exacly cheap but its a bit more sensible). My brother in law paid £1200 for his RS4 service, he's a multi millionaire and he's not happy! So I guess its alright to be prudent even if you can afford it.
  4. Should I buy a Cayman - Help?

Dont buy a girly looking car get a z4m coupe if you can handle a beast (servicing is half the cost too!) makes the cayman sound like barbies car.
  5. Z4 M Engine Light

Hi, this happens a lot on german cars which have been run on high octane fuel (shell optimax for example)and then somebody has put 95 ron in it (probably the dealer). The z4M should ideally not be run on 95 ron. If it persists run a few tanks of optimax through it and it will go away hopefully. VW R32s have been known to have this problem.
  6. In my 535d you could select a 'birds eye' view of the map giving a 3d perspective. I have heard that this is available on some Z4 systems but is not activated. Is there a 'hidden' menu anywhere? I have seen the activation instructions for sale on ebay so it would seem it is something that may be possible to do.
  7. Virtual M3 Touring

With regard to item 6) I had the cd changer in my 535d. it wasnt until I read the manual that I noticed it disabled the MP3 capablilty of the single cd. Now I have changed to the Z4 M coupe and did not bother with the changer. The single cd plays MP3 tracks and you can get stacks of music on one cd in this format. just check the single cd is mp3 compatible in the 335. I am sure that it will be. With regard to the bluetooth, you dont need any sort of cradle for it to work, but you do get better reception and the charging facility with a cradle. bear in mind the cradles are unique to the type of phone you have, so once bought you cant keep changing your phone, although you can connect more than one phone to the car without the cradle.
  8. I want to fit my road angel into my z4 m coupe and hide the wiring as much as possible. I would like the power switched via the ignition and therefore I do not want to pick up a supply from the glovebox fuses. I am thinking of connecting up to the cigar lighter supply and running the cable up under the side plastic. has anybody removed the cigar lighter housing to expose the wires? any tips would be gratefully received.
  9. VCS Problem Z4 M Coupe

Further to my post in the tech section:- Well the car went backwards and forwards to the dealer for a week and a day, I only had the car at home for one day out of eight. They changed the radio, then the whole navigation computer, and finally they changed the vcs system. This finally appears to have fixed the problem. I also got my phone updated to the latest software although a phone should not kill a car system - should it? The dealer has offered to give me my first service (1200 miler) for free, not sure how much this is worth, but do you think it is sufficient compensation for having my car pulled apart three times? If not what do you suggest I should hold out for? I still love the car although its hard to keep it under 5500 revs as suggested for the run in period, it just gets there so quickly. Its also difficult not to throw it around corners, especially out of roundabouts as the grip is just phenominal. I guess my back tyes arent going to last that long! I hope my problem has been resolved now as I was getting really cheesed off with it.

  11. Hi here are a few pictures of my new toy, I no longer have the 535d but that was a great car for motorway pounding. My new go kart is great for making the ticker race a bit, they say you should exercise your heart when you get older (and its much better than shredded wheat beefy!). It had to go back in straight away for a computer reset as i lost all sound but it seems ok now two days in. I have attached a picture of my old GT6 (not my actual car) that I had 30 years ago when I was 23. Six cylinders, two seats, four wheels and a long bonnet make them similar but obviously you cannot compare performance! Loving feeling alive and enjoying driving again!
  12. new z4 m coupe audio problem

hi gizze, hthe car is actually mine, my son posted it for me because i couldnt log on for some reason. No luck with a self fix last night so back to the dealer first thing today. they had to do a reset on the computer to sort it out, but they did it straight away which took about 25 minutes. VCS seems fine now as does the stereo. what a phenominal go-kart this car is though, such a different delivery of power from the 535d. cant wait till its run in and i have got to grips with the six speed manual properly. the thing makes such a buitiful sound i just cant stop driving it. i used to have a GT6 when I was 23 and although the performance is not comparable they are so similar with a big straight six up front and not much behind. if i can dig out some pictures i will post the old and the new.
  13. Voice assist retrofit

Thanks for the help chaps, it was new in June 05 Gizze. You didnt really say if it was good to have it...what exactly can you call up with it? I already have a button on the steering wheel showing a little head and some sound waves coming out of it... Cheers Martin
  14. Hi I have a 535d with prof navigation & bluetooth prep. does anybody know if the voice assist can be retrofitted easily? is it only a softwre upgrade? Secondly, if it is available is it worth buying? cheers,
  15. Can you retrofit voice assistance to an e60 535d? I have sat nav professional with HUD and bluetooth, but I am not sure if extended voice control can be put on. Is it just a software update & what cost do you think this would be?
