  1. RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

I agree that appears to have no extras a standard RS3 (ok maybe £500 metallic paint) so what £40500 and asking £51750 no one - is going to pay that.
  2. RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

Yes they have been out since Feb
  3. RS3 UK Test

Inconsistency and inaccuracies in Autocar RS3 review – Issue No 5019 "Adaptive b-xenon lights come as standard" incorrect Bi-xenon lights are standard however not adaptive bi-xenon "You have to pay extra for Bluetooth" – incorrect Bluetooth is standard OK minor points however one would think that they would get their facts correct by reading a brochure. My final point, lets do some maths / arithmetic Design and Engineering = 4 stars Interior = 3.5 stars Performance = 4.5 stars Ride and handling = 3 stars Buying and owning = 4 stars All the above are weighted evenly this gives an average overall score of 3.8. Surely that is either 4 stars or 3.5 stars Autocar Verdict not the 3 stars as Autocar gave. Ok OK a bit anal I know, but it’s a quiet night here at home 
  4. RS 3 Tested.

Nice review - Just wondering how did you find the ride compared to the S3 ? Was it firmer ?Did you dind it crashy at all ? How did it handle bumps on the road ?
  5. RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

Great to read your review - thanks for posting it. Also reassuring that the ride quality was good and it "soaked up all the humps and bumps with ease" hope Aberdeen get a demo RS3 :-)

Does anyone know if modern rally cars are paddle shift or are standard clutch + gear stick ?

  9. Hi just thought I'd throw this one up for discussion : Which car do you reckon would be quicker round the Nurbugring ? A RS4 estate/sportback or RS3 ? Also how does a RS4 compare with a TTRS round the Nurbugring ?
  10. RS3 UK Test

Auto express like it in the UK : "RS3 is such an incredible exercise in no-nonsense A to B performance, there’s simply no doubting its status as a super hatch" "Around town, the RS3 proves very easy to live with – unlike most S or RS-badged Audis, the ride is actually pretty good. It’s firm but not crashy." I was also speaking to a local sales manager who's pal has just tken owner ship of a RS3. I voiced my concerns that it might be too harsh over bumps and that one might be better with a Golf R for comfort. He'd recently had a run in it. Re comfort it was much the same as a Golf R he felt. "Keep your order don't consider changing" he was very impressed. This sales manager, I aint going to say which brand he sells but lets just say it's a direct competitor to the RS3. Very honest of him. Audi RS3 | First Drives | Auto Express

Sorry I disagree cars to get stuck in snow. I accept that drivers can play their part. Winter tyres I'm sure help. (Ahem well my £800 for four tyres certainly helped - it didnt snow once I had em on hehe ). I will add as somone who has driven all over the NE of Scotland in winter. Four paw drive with summer tyres is still very good. Front wheel on summer tyres mmm - I had to abandon in my car park, BMW mmm I reckon just forget it. Four paw drive on winter tyres that's the best. Put em on Oct/Nov and take off March/April is my suggestion.
  12. RS3 UK Test

Not just Iceland - in Aberdeen (that's Scotland just north of Watford) in the winter a rear wheel drive BMW is useless when snow arrives. In the winter 2009-2011 at one point, well there was a month when snow was on the road. My own GTI is hopeless in the snow.So if I got an M1 or M3 like my pals which he garaged for that entire month I would have to get another car/transport. My TTS was never got stuck

Here another one here vid of a great looking Daytona Grey one Oh and have a listen to that engine !
  14. RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

I aint seen one up in Scotland however here's a vid of a nice Daytona grey one.
  15. Folks, A bit of help wd be appreciated - I've orderd a Daytona grey RS3 however due to possible delivery probs with this colour I might change to Ibis White or Suzuka Grey . Also I understand that if I changed to say Suzuka Grey I would save £510 and if I changed to Ibis White I would save 2 x £510 = £1020. Do you reckon the RS3's in these vids are Ibis White or Suzuka Grey ? I had a Ibis White TTS however have never seen a Suzuka grey car in the flesh (well metal) but it seems like a white colour.
  16. Colour for RS3 is this Ibis White or Suzuka Grey

    Yeah thats correct :-)

Hi it was down to this Audi bulletin which my dealer recived - Production constraints AU0401-11 Because of the natural disaster in Japan, the entire industry is experiencing uncertainty in supply of parts, components and raw materials. Audi AG has sent us the following information about affected options. We have already put in place support for customer orders that may be affected. Paint colours There are supply problems with a paint pigment called ‘Xirallic’, which is used to produce a number of metallic and pearl-effect paints. In individual cases therefore, there will be a delay in the production for these colours until at least week 36, and lead times for vehicles ordered in these colours are likely to extend further. For this reason, please check your current scheduled build weeks for orders in these colours if necessary inform your customer of the potential delay and propose an alternative paint finish. This is not limited to the suggested alternative paint colours in the table below. Customer support Where the customer changes paint colour from a ‘Xirallic’ paint finish to a non ‘Xirallic’ colour, we will refund the price of optional paint. Where a customer changes from an ‘Xirallic’ to a standard colour, as well as achieving a saving on the cost of optional paint, the customer will also be entitled to an additional discount equivalent to the cost of optional paint. We will identify all relevant customer orders in the system as at the end of business on Friday 6 May. These orders will be priced at zero value unless the paint colour is changed to a non ‘Xirallic’ colour at which point it will be re-valued with a discount equal to the retail price of optional paint for that particular model. Please note that it will not be possible to amend orders to Audi exclusive colours as this will result in further extended lead times. This support will not be available for stock, showroom or demo vehicles so these should be changed to non ‘Xirallic’ colour as soon as possible by the Centre. Note: When changing the exterior colour please check the colour combination with the selected interior colour and trims. For new orders please be aware that there will be no support o these ‘Xirallic’ paint colours and customer should be advised of the likelihood of further delivery lead times extension, and encouraged to select an non ‘Xirallic’ colour

Well the gist in my dealer email was that the Audi bulletin might not affect me as my car was ordered with a 1st March 2012 delivery date (as requested by me). Hopefully by the time my car is being made the supply of the Xirallic paint pigment will be OK. That said my dealer added that if I there another colour which I might take it might be a safer option. I think he heading down the line if the delay in supply of this pigmentation developed.I.E. they still couldnt get it so it developed into a into a discontinuation of a colour.

Many thanks for thoughts folks - The Ibis White I would save £1020 - thats tempting - will keep you posted :-)
  20. RS4 or RS3 which would be quicker round the Nurbugring ?

  21. RS3: Have you ordered one? Have you received a build date?

Ah OK OK lol - lets just say same driver, same conditions :-)
  23. Geneva 2011: Audi RS3 Sportback - press release + pictures

Ah it's got to be 4 wheel drive, 5 door, decent leg room, quick, good handling, not huge, OK economy, ahem yeah premium brand So BMW and Merc's are so no good unless you can suggest a similar suitable BMW or Merc we get snow in the NE of Scotland :-)
  24. Geneva 2011: Audi RS3 Sportback - press release + pictures

One does wonder about the tests I agree. It recall there was another car maker recently (I can't recall just who) who did a similar thing re giving motor journalists a go on oh their new car on an ice / snow track. Yes also it looks old but then whats is the alternative for a 5 door premium made car. Golf R was the one was looking at and it looks great but same as ever. Plus I reckon the RS3's performance swings it for me. Topgear liked the drive also albeit it was on the same blxxdin snow track arg ! :-)
