  1. this bit is still here but the rubbing has gone..............going get it checked out sometime this week............................If i switch the engine off i dont get no rubbing sound.........it is not very loud....very annoying.

if engines running i get someone to rock the steering,i can feel it through the front wheels.

what i mean is,i got my daughter to rock the wheel side to side and i had my hand gripping the front wheel,i can feel like there is play in the wheel?

Its like the shaft has play in it....both sides is the same..........car drives ok,no problems.

All i have had done is the alignment which is all within spec.

But i never noticed these 2 issues until today, they could have been there all along.

  2. I can hear rubbing when car is standing still (engine running) if i turn the wheel left or right,it only does it if i turn the steering a little.

Lets say ive got both hands on the wheel at '9 o'clock and 3 o'clock and i turn the wheel so it go's from 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock.........or vice versa 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock

sound like rubber that is rubbing somewhere, its not inside the car (i thort back of steering was rubbing around all the plastic that go's around indicator stalks, ignition)

  3. Doesn't the bypassing of the immobiliser and leaving it in that state, have security and insurance consequences then?

Looking at the website, MY view is it doesn't seem like a comprehensive website/s and gives the image of someone who has discovered how to decode the immobiliser and little else, 'MY' experience of dealing with people such as this is that you can end up in (expensive) trouble. This is because some people like this may not/will not have the experience/knowledge and resources if they corrupt data, damage or kill your ECU therefore leaving 'you' out of pocket!

This could look like spam no?

No offence to you or the advertised business Just my tuppence worth :)

YOU ARE SO WRONG THIS GUY KNOWS HIS S**T EVEN THE LOCAL AUDI DEALERSHIP USE HIM AND HE IS THE GUY WHO ENDS UP FIXING OTHER PEOPLES MESS UPS TRUST ME TOOK ME 9 MONTHS RUNNING FROM PLACE TO PLACE WHEN NOBODY COULD FIX MY PROBLEM....AND GUESS WHAT HE SORTED IT...THANK YOU VERY MUCH...JUST MY 2 PENCE WORTH:p.

  4. i know this was posted 2007 but thort id post this very useful info incase someone benefits from it at some point.

had my ecu decoded immobiliser bypassed by vagtronics in stoke on trent in a similar car and have used this company many times after A1 service everytime the guy knows his vag ecus inside out, give him a try.

  5. just to update, all the mechanic ive spoken to...say we use a normal torque wrench....some say we dont torque the hubs tighten them and thats it........that comes from audi/vw specialist,he says weve never had a problem or had anyone come back with issues or complaints.Would you guys recommend torque the hubs or not?

  6. Rich, is every torqued bolt on every car set wrong then? I've never seen a 'bending beam' torque wrench in a garage, they all use the click type, and bits aren't falling off cars left right and centre.

Maybe in high precision applications I can understand your concerns, but on a car, is a normal click type wrench not good enough? I cant say I've ever felt as if mine is putting 'uncontrolled' torque through whatever I'm tightening?

    I totally agree!

  7. I have been told by a local AUdi (main dealer) they all differ but for my A3 it 200 nm and then tighten a further 180 deg......ok but why another 180 degrees why not set the torque wrech a little higher?

Also will i need new hub bolt? i was planning on using the same ones (im doing both rear bearings) but adding some thread lock to the bolts, are they the stretch type.?....is it a must to replace?

  8. Im after the torque settings for the A3 tdi sportback, its for the rear hub bearings im about to replace.

Ive ordered aftermarket ones as they were a way lot cheaper, audi say all a3's have different settings and cant/wont tell me.

    Have you guys any ideas?

chassis starts with wauzzz 8P94................ 2.0 TDI SPORTBACK WITH 30MM REAR HUB BEARING.

  9. ok...i have a shiny Audi A3 sportback.....polished regular at least once a month using autoglym resin, extra gloss protection, even used colour magic (turtle wax) Ive been told to use collinite 476s as its better than meguiars#16 and so on......then ive read the 476 is for dark coloured cars...yes now im confused!

What i want is a good decent wax that will last a while and protect the body, the 476 and meg #16 is under £15.00 what else is there out ther that lasts (at least 2-3 months, good for DOLPHIN METTALIC GREY CAR ?

    and something under £15.00 ?

  12. If i lower my a3 sport 5 door, how low can i go without affecting camber?

its already a sport so i think is 10mm lower than the standard model.

Will 40 mm be ok or 50 ? any of you guys got any info,id appreciate it.

  14. hi mate not be rude, but the judder is nothing like being in wrong gear. I forgot to mention new rack, pump fitted and new aux belt and modified tensioner. as far as steering noise goes. My car is remapped 184bhp proven so aint none of those things. Sorry my faulty for not given enough detail any other ideas??

your remapp is basically rubbish! sorry to be harsh,i had same problem and i know what your going through, ive been there, the guy then remapped mine with a different file and car was mint...you got a dodgy remapped file on your car.
