  1. National Speed limit soon to be 50mph

PHEW ! Signed the petition and thank God I got it done. I'd hate to miss out on my chance to excersise my democratic right.
  2. Just where are we heading?

Its a very sorry state of affairs. What the contry needs is for everyone to stand up and be counted but theres far too much apathy now.
  3. National Speed limit soon to be 50mph

My original train of thought for this was in the case of SPECS rather than Gatso's or Truvelo's. I guess you'd also need to obscure the reg no. on your tax disc too. Clever things these Cash Machines. As for the camera partnership tracking you by your face. A nice cardboard cut out of Alistair Darling giving the bird would soon come into play as you pass the camera's. With eye holes of course. Wouldn't want to be a danger to anyone The YouTube vids look interesting.
  4. National Speed limit soon to be 50mph

I'm amazed that theres no company selling an undetectable "Changing" number plate somewhere in an underground bunker. There will have to be inventions to prevent SPECS reading plates, its the only way forward. With every measure there has to be a counter measure. There needs to be an NPR ( Number Plate Removal ) day. Just once a month will be enough to screw the system. If every motorist in the Uk took part there'd be nothing this fascist government and its plod minions could do about it. Maybe we could get a quick release system for our front plate.
  5. National Speed limit soon to be 50mph

Hmmmm SPECS ... Sinister Pugnacious Enthusiastic Citizen Suppressor. Makes my feckin blood boil
  6. As if this government and its Banking Buddies haven't arse raped us enough, we now have this.... Road speed limit cut to 50mph Time for some riots me thinks....
  7. The new VW Scirocco....

The twin charging option would seem obvious really as VW are pioneering the "Less is more" option when it comes to powerplants. I remember reading about the "Iroc" when it was first showcased and the heads of VW stated then that the 1.4ltr "TC" engine would end up being the biggest seller. Part of the reason for that IMO is that as much as I love it and will deffinately have one, it could well end up a posers car more than an enthusiasts car to be looked at more than driver hard. I think VW can see that coming and will major on small cc's for the "Tamara & Sophie" market. But then I could be talking complete Bolx.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Hi Gang. Not been around much due to my foolishness and being seduced by an Italian Beauty The pictures tell the story between November 07 and just last week when I became the proud owner of the Candy White with DSG and Recaro's. Not much to tell really apart from the fact the 159 cost me an awfull lot of money in 3 months. Why, Why, Why.... let this be a warning, don't go near an Alfa Dealer if you like the look of the product. I went out to buy a jumper one Wednesday and came home having done the dirty deed. I missed my GTi soooo much. [/ QUOTE ] Great pics! Your white GTI looks great. At least every week I wonder if I should have gone for a white GTI....perhaps I shoud have....? I see you have xenons on this new one too - are the recaro's easy to get in and out of with your back problems? Enjoy [/ QUOTE ] The car was advertised at a Non Franchise dealer so when I saw "Recaro's" in the ad I just assumed that it was the salesman just refering to the std seats as "to him" they may have looked like Recaro's. When I first saw the car and opened the door I was pleasantly surprised to see them but also a little concerned as I do have a bit of trouble getting up and out of a seat without cranking my neck ( which agravates my back ) However, with the seat dropped right down I use my hand on the sill as a lever and its not an issue. The biggest problem with the Alfa was the door apature not being big enough. When my back problem returned I found it very hard getting out ( I'm 6'2" ). The seats are fantastic and really hold you in so much better than the std seats. Which means I just have to corner harder.
  9. Tis done...

Well done, great colour choice too.
  10. A Fool and his Money

Robin I remember you and I getting our red GTi's almost in the same week back in 05. Its great to be back in a DSG I'm also looking at your post count, you dirty post whore .... 20k ......And you joined 4 months after me.
  11. A Fool and his Money

I have to say the dealer ( Desira at Bury St Edmonds ) was faultless. The car had a couple of niggles within the first few days and they collected the car and sorted them quickly, leaving me a car to use. I was completely smitten by the looks of the 159Ti and really didn't think it through. In February I started to worry about the residual value after a year ( I'd already decided I wanted my GTi back ) and decided to cut my losses there and then and not wait. Also due to a re-occurring back injury the Alfa was proving difficult to get in and out of. Ho Hum... Big losses but I'm happy now..... I blame bloody Clarkson and his "Nobody is a true petrolhead until they've owned an Alfa." comment.
  12. Manual or DSG

[ QUOTE ] I drove a Porsche at the weekend and absolutely loved it! However, it was manual - A very nice box, but I so wanted it to have DSG. My left leg aches!! There's loads posted on the DSG if you do a Search. It's far more than an 'automatic' and it's no less involving than a manual - You just don't need to foot a clutch and can change faultlessly and superhumanly fast using the paddles or floor stick tiptronically if you prefer. I now drive manually using the paddleshifters all the time and only pop her into D-mode for urban or crawling traffic. You have complete control all the time and can even override D just by using a paddleshift. I can't fault DSG but there is a learning curve because it offers you so many optional combinations of use. Mechanically it's as reliable as any other car component and in fact clutch wear is reduced because your gf can't slip the clutch! [/ QUOTE ] Couldn't have said it better myself. I missed my DSG so much its cost me a packet to change back from an Alfa to another GTi.
