  1. Hi everyone, I was just wondering when the best time to buy from a dealer is, Is it the end of the month, end of the year or end of the financial year, I'm not sure if it makes any difference but I have heard people talking about times when the dealer is trying to make his sales figures look good so he may offer a good deal, I'm looking for a TDI jetta, either brand new or a year or two old, any tips Thanks
  2. [ QUOTE ] His first post says he changed it already. [/ QUOTE ] oops, sorry, I had actually read that a few days ago and then just keep looking at the second page of the post
  3. Have you tried the MAF sensor, I had a similar start up problem with my mk4 Golf, but mine would also go into limp mode if you were on the motorway and tried to push it up the revs, A replacement MAF sensor sorted out my problems, disconnect it and start the car if it runs better then its probably that
  4. Working now, thanks a lot for all your help everyone, it turns out I had to switch round the red and white wire with the yellow and red
  5. The connector was just coming out of the wiring loom, when I first put the gamma in it didn't power up so I had to change one of the wires can't remember which now. Is there somewhere that has a diagram of the colours of the wires and which bit of the connector they should go into?
  6. The unit is second hand but I have also tried the beta out of my wifes Bora and it behaves the same, Should the radio be on when I turn the car on or does a VW not work like that?
  7. I got it off ebay for £160 delivered, it was a very easy install, there is a triangular space that cam with it to fit between the two unit but I didn't see any need for it, make sure you get the lead for the illumination of the changer with it, if you buy both head unit and changer it should be there Where would I find a wiring diagram for wiring it individually?
  8. Haven't tried with the key out of the ignition yet, will do tonight. I used the standard loom but somebody had messed about with it before I got the car, they had an after market head unit, I thought I had it back to normal but maybe not, how would I check
  9. I have a 2002 Mk4 Golf and I have just fitted a VW Gamma Radio and a VW in dash 6 CD changer above it. My question is this. If the radio or CD player is on when the Car is switched off and the key removed, should it come back on the next time the car is started and be on the same radio station or start playing the CD from where it left off. At the moment when you switch the car on again the radio is turned off and if I turn it on and select the CD it just starts from Disk 1 track 1 and not where it was. I hope you understand what I mean as it sounds a bit funny written down. Am I missing a permanent live that would keep the memory of the CD player and should the radio be on when I start the car? Thanks
  10. Update - Got the New MAF sensor put on yesterday, Totally sorted out the car, it's running like new again, very happy
  11. Thanks Rustynuts, going to get one for it this week
  12. Update in case anyone has the same trouble, Got the car on a diganostic tester (VAGCOM?) and it said the MAF sensor needs replaced, disconnected the MAF and the car is running better but still very flat, it was also giving and overboost error, any idea what that might indicate?
  13. Anyone? even just advice on how to replace the MAF sensor Thanks
