Well I've been organising a race at the Nurburgring called the '24 Heuren Wertminderung und Garantie Anspruch Herausforderung' (24 Hours Depreciation and Warranty Claim Challenge) which is jointly sponsored by Alfa Romeo and Daewoo.
I've just signed Jochen Mass to drive a VW Phaeton and Gabrielle Tarquini in an Alfa 166 TS. The idea is to complete a full 24 hours of the Nordschliefe with a) at least one mechanical failure and b) losing more than 50% of the car's new price. In normal 24 hour races, the pits are full of mechanics but this time, we're having ignorant ******s in cheap suits wielding warranty claim forms. In correct Fiat Auto tradition, a lorry packed with wrong spares will be at the event.

BMW are also sponsoring the event with the 'Hams Hall' trophy which will be given to the 1 Series driver with the most valvetronic failures in the allocated time. Smug BMW salesmen in Ben Sherman suits will be on hand to discuss 'brand positioning' and why the X3 is all but unsaleable.

Current favourite to win this prestigious event is the BMW 760iL which is expected to suffer at least one major electrical failure and shed 66% of it's value. The Porsche 928 is expected to clean up in the Oldtimer Class, ja?

Amen to that... I spoke to the guy I sold my '91 Cooper to, and in the 2 years he's had it, it's needed a clutch and a few oil changes. - I've since poured thousands into a decrepit BMW. (...and the Mini would pi55 on it through any decent twisty section!)

The world, methinks, is unfair.
