i think my timing belt went yesterday. i was driving and lost power stereing and and engine stopped. i didn't realise and thought i had just stalled so tried starting the car. the engine obviously didn't start but did turn over, quite quickly but sounded flat. does anyone know any signs that i can look for to see whether it is the timing belt that has gone without trying to start the car again. Also, if it is the timing belt, do they fail safe, or will of bent values, damaged cylinder head etc. any advice would be appreciated. my car is an 2002 Audi A3 tdi quattro with about 75k miles.
Hi all, Looking at a couple of 320d's, 2005/2006 reg and had a query about the Cambelt/Timing Chain. I understand BMW have been using chains rather than rubber belts for some time now so presume these don't have to be changed for the life of the car. However, does anyone know if it still has to undergo a service @ 60-70k. Any tensioner/roller changes for example? Thanks
