Edd_W
I have a 1986 mkII Gti which I have had since it was 2 years old - 1988! I fitted a 2.0ltr Oettinger 16s engine and some other mods soon after I had the car and it has been driven only rarely since, not at all for the last few years. It now has about 45k miles on it, and is in pretty good shape. It has been garaged until early this summer when I had to move it from my parent's due to the pending sale of their property. I thought I would be able to spend time to get it on the road again but that has failed to happen but it starts straight away and runns well, although I have not driven it. I am looking for advice as to what to do with it - I need to sell it really but whether to get an MOT etc... or just sell as-is? I will see what interest there is. I normally browse the A6 forums here and on Audiworld so I am technically a VW noob.
RedRobin
Most peeps here are Mk5 owners but there's quite a few Mk1/2/3/4/5 GTI owners over on: HERE I'm thinking you may get more response/interest there.

Tarmac_Terrorist
Sound like great car for a rubbadubdub enthusiast - very low miles. I should imagine an MOT will help secure a sale easier. I would certinly want to see an MOT if I was buying - particularly as the car has been 'laid up' for a while. My concerns would be brakes and corrosion. Good luck with the sale

Edd_W
Thanks for the replies. I will have a loot at posting on the other forums mentioned. As for price, I realy have no idea as to what it is worth yet. I do know an Oettinger crank alone went for over £1000 in the US recently, but I do not intend to break it for parts, it is too good and I do not have the time. I could be open to suggestions if anyone has anything to compare with.
