Tarmac_Terrorist
Perhaps it's just me but there seems to be more straight lines (door handles, lights etc) and I'm not so sure they blend with the overall round chunky shape of the car. No doubt it will grow on me and the GTI will look the part.
gloryhornet
I just wondered what do they do when it gets dark?
Calm Chris
I read soemwhere that the Ed30 engine becomes the base engine for the Mkvi GTi, has this been confirmed as accurate?

JonnyGTi
Not seen it confirmed anywhere, but can well believe it. I've read on another thread that VW have just reopened orders for the Ed 30, so it is no longer a "limited" edition. They will probably sell as many ED30's as standard GTI's up to the launch of the MKVI IMO
Snoopy
Its not officially confirmed no, as non of the engine line up yet officially has.

BrakeSnake
Fiat Stilo anyone.... Looks way too tall for it's wheel base, proportions don't look right... could be an optical illusion with the black tent on it tho.... Love the trailer too... is that an tick box on the options list...? (so you can take your tent with you.... )
Snoopy
Prob an optical illusion due to the amount carried over from the mk5.
RedRobin
We should all reserve judgement until we see something more tangible, but, so far, it doesn't look very exciting - In fact it looks positively dull!
gribs
Is it just me or does that video looked staged? That's an incredibly lucky cameraman to have the MkVI drive by so many times past a static camera.
TwoSheds
I suspect the 'Spy team' once they sus the route just radio ahead to a couple of other guys with video cams to set up especially on that mountain road. So the car was a sitting duck. I notice the Touareg riding shotgun couldn't position themselves because of the nature of the road.

Spot
Have you ever thought these 'spy' shots might be being used by VW to canvass 'informed' opinion on new models? It'd be easier to just come here and ask
Snoopy
No, The reason i say this is experience. Every previous generation owner of a golf normally hates the next generation. Some of you guys will have seen it especially with the mk4 R32 to mk5 R32 but alot of owners 'come round' over time. I have seen it with all generations of the golf so far. RedRobin
Dry clutch 7-speed lighter DSG with faster gearing, LED DRL's, improved fuel efficiency - Just some of the new features we will come to like. But the acid test will be what the Mk6 feels like to drive and how she looks.

[/ QUOTE ] That's a very good point you make Geoff, I can remember the disgust from Mk1 owners when the Mk2 came out, too rounded etc.... and look back now I think the only one people didn't finally come round to was the MK3, when I think VW lost the plot completetly and thought all they had to do was put a GTI badge on a box and it would sell
RedRobin
....I think the Mk4 (unless modified or R32) is worse than the Mk3.
chriswastle
As a GTI you may be right Robin, but the Mk 4 is considered the best built/ quality of all the golf marks
