Daz
I've had a set of F1's now for 6 months and have had no problems with them at all either in the dry or the wet. Wear also seems OK at the moment too. I've not tried the Toyos so unfortunately I can't compare the two.
DeanS3
I've got F1's and they are good in both wet and dry. hardly tell the difference sometimes not sure if they are better than the bridgestone so'3s i had though. Castle coombe will be the decider last time i was on the so3's this time the f1;s
Mo-S3
Ive been told that that the f1's are slightly longer lasting than the T1's. But the T1's make more sense in terms of value ie pound for pound. If the price was exaclty the same for the F1's and the T1's then which would you guys go for ?? As i understand it the T1's have a slightly softer compound than the F1's hence the massive grip in both wet and dry but a compromise on life!! I know ive been confused between the Goodyear's and the Toyo's but after reading this post im even bore bloody confused !! Someone just give a bloody good reason why i should possibly get Toyo's over Goodyears even if they are the same price!!!

[/ QUOTE ] Dean This piccy is of both the Goodyear F1 and the Toyo Proxes T1-S... Can you spot the difference? I use the Toyos and they are the dogs.... Mind you I haven't had F1's on my S3 yet I've had them on my Escort Cossie and didn't rate them too much. Scrubbed out too quickly for the money... Mo-S3
Yeah but MIck, isnt that normal for a cossie to eat the tyres compared to a more 'normal' car ?? Some tyre dealers are trying to sell the oodyears for over £180 where as the Toyos have been quoted up to £120 !! Doesnt that say a lot?? Plus also the fact that they say the F1's are the ulimate Mutts Nutts !! WELL ?? which ones should they be then ?? F1's or T1's ??

Mollox
The banana and I headed out west to Bracknell Tyre and Battery yesterday. Now, did someone say you got good service there? lol they were miserable feckers. I can't believe the queues there - must have been a dozen cars parked up in the freezing cold, all waiting for tyres. Was like a Moscow bread queue. I can understand that with all those people waiting they don't need to make too much of an effort but still... Anyway, i recommend that anyone go down there if only to check out the old guy's bouffant mullet. Priceless! Got myself a set of 225/45/ZR17 F1s for £366 which is pretty reasonable I suppose The banana did his rears for £183... Initial impressions of the F1s are mixed. Lookswise, I'm perhaps a little concerned that they have so little in the way of a sidewall - look at mick's pic and you'll see the proxes have a lot more there. Perhaps a potential issue given the notorious "Quattro Scrub". I've been going easy on them to let them settle in so can't comment on cornering yet but will say the car feels a little lighter at the mo. Its a little bit less settled on the road but this might be that they're keenly inflated or they might just need to bed in. We'll see Have to say, after all the piss i've taken out of it, the banana (particularly when clean) looks mightily impressive (and fecking intimidating) in your rear view mirror...even if it is disappearing And Tony, i'm still counting my lucky chickens that those coppers weren't paying more attention to their rear-view!! Will let you all know how the F1s progress inigo
PhilT
Do the F1 have rim protectors?
RS4_Barry
Wouldn't recommend the f1's for a high performance 4wd car, check out the MLR forum and you will read that some of the guys have had the f1s tread come away from the tyre casing ..... not good and certainly not if it happens at speed....
Mo-S3
Whats the MLR forum ?? besides ive never ever heard of the F1's peeling their tread away ?? Can anyone else confirm this ??

RS4_Barry
Read about it here I have heard this happening a few more times too! They are just not a high enough performance tyre for 4wd cars imho. Toyos are good value and seem to be very good though .... touch wood!
DeanS3
Sh*t wish i hadn't read that! i knew my SO3's felt better, but people kept trying to tell me otherwise. glad i only changed the fronts so far
Mo-S3
Hmmm just read that post ... very interesting !! especially the part where he mentioned that he is concerned about leaving lots of rubber on the B&Q carpark when hes doing doughnuts !!! DUMBASS !!! SO !! goin back to the saga of our tyres .... i now understand that Goodyear gumdrops are a pile of SHITE and are out of the equation. TOYOS are still looking good. Bridgestone's ?? what about these then ? the latest ones look good too. Deano have u got these on ur motor ?? Why dont we get some cheapo FALKENS and replace them more often ??
DeanS3
Moff I had Bridgestone SO3's all round before the i got the F1's. They done 17,000 miles and were absolutley ragged to death by me and never gave up. the also survived castle coombe pretty well. its really hard to say what tyre is better, cos the f1's feel very similar. Only a track day will really tell
CARACTERE 007
just gonna throw another tyre into the equation but has anyone tried pirelli pzero rossos?...ive been offered some at silly money, these ive heard are awesome,...and were standard fit for lamborghinis and ferrari as well as the special porsche fitment,...ive decided not to go for the f1's and im gonna get some pzeros instead,..if theyre good for the diablo.....then its gotta be good for the a3! [ QUOTE ] But Mick didn't you have the old style F1's?? the current model (GSD3) is a big improvement over the old style f1's [/ QUOTE ] Ok Dean. Give you that one, but...You know what they say "once bitten...." and all that Now if Pirellis are contsant in the wear deparment I wouldn't buy another set! I can't speak for PZero's but I have still got P7000's on my 19" alloys and I wouldn't recommend those to anyone. They are toilet! Noisey, soft (not bad for grip), wear out very quickly. As I said, haven't used the PZero's but IMHO I wouldn't buy Pirellis again. God! This is beginging to sound like I work for Toyo in thier marketing department . I don't and these are all my own opinion based on the tyres I have/have not used. Mick
