edwowen
Hi All. mate of mine has an E60 530d. His turbo failed. Not to worry he thought, I have a 3rd party warranty which specifically includes the turbo. Except they have rejected the claim based on the fact the turbo is siezed... The t's and c's do, on very close inspection mention this. He plans to fight it - but I wondered if anyone had any understanding of how turbo's tend to fail, whether there is an issue with the 30d engines turbo - and how they tend to fail.. I would have thought that however a turbo fails, siezure is likley to occur any how? Thoughts?
CarMad
They can go wrong all sorts of ways, seizing is one or the can blow up and eat themselves. I think the seizing can occur when they get very hot and are suddenly switched off not being allowed to cool, it fries the oil and they get unwell very quickly. Some car makers get round this my pumping the oil round after the car has stopped you can sometimes here it. Hope he gets it sorted let us know how he gets on.
