bulb
The latest of many problems with my S reg 1.8T. I'm getting a creaking sound when I steer. It seems worse when I steer right, but also happens when I steer left. Any ideas?
L60N
New steering rack required. Im not joking either. My brand new car did it to the left, they replaced the steering rack. It came home only to start again... I havnt been back to have it replaced again. Can you live with it?
bulb
Thats kind of what I feared. Does it need replacing now? If not, I can live with it for a while, as I plan on selling it in August. Obviously I replace it before I sell it.
Vic
It could just be a dry track rod end or a strut mount that is creaking. Check that the rubber boots aren't split at each end of the rack. Put the front of the car on axle stands and get someone to turn the steering while you try and feel where the noise is coming from.
kite
Could be the front ARB, get the mounts checked
Paul
I would also consider checking the power steering fluid level. If the level is low, the pump camn make funny noises.
bulb
Thanks. The power steering fluid is on minimum. I'll get it topped up and see what differenc that makes.
