patently
One for the IT bods.... I'm ordering a new db server for my firm, which needs to run MS SQL Server. It will have one quad core processor. If I opt for the "per processor" licensing option, is that one licence for one processor, or four licenses for four processor cores? TIA
S70ODA
I'm pretty sure that Mickysofts "per processor" licence works on how many physical processor you have in the computer. One processor, quad core is classed as being one chip, as opposed to the dual processor Xeon chips in some machines. Mac
Yes, it's per physical processor. Your LAR should be able to tell you all the licensing options - PM me if you're not sure matey, can at least point you at the right people. Not that I work for th Eval Empire or anything
nordberg
All MS licensing is per PHYSICAL processor. I presume you have more than 30 connections? Otherwise you might be better buying seats.
patently
Many thanks all - just what I needed. We have about 40 seats to licence, so the per-processor option looks rather better.
