BlackDiamond
My Mk5 GTI has just today developed a problem with the idling speed. The revs are moving up and down between 750 and 2000 without me touching the accelerator. I went to fill up with fuel last night and they didnt have any 99RON so i filled with 95RON. Could this be the cause of the problem?
jhal
i dare say it would cause it. i used to fill with 95RON with no problems, but then maxol E5 became easily availalble, so i use that now. no idea what might be causing the erratic idle. BlackDiamond
I'm hoping it is just the fuel as my car is now out of warranty. It seems to drive ok when the revs are up but at idle speed it feels rough, i can feel vibration through the seat and steering wheel. Now and again the revs start creeping up and then dropping down. I had the same symptoms and it was a cracked air intake that was causing the problem, cut out on the motorway which was an experience
