Supposedly there are 10,062 globally of which there are 5,000 in the US and 2,391 in the UK, 200 in Australia and 200 in France.

Deep Blue Pearlescent - 813

Diamond Black Pearlescent - 755

Reflex Silver Metallic - 615

Moonlight Blue Pearlescent - 57

Tornado Red - 44

Grey Anthracite Pearlescent - 31

Indigo Blue - 76

There have never been an official breakdowns of which are 3 and 5 door though, but the 5 doors are rarer. I even saw a 5 door Grey Anthracite Pearl once, but reckon that is the rarest of the rare.

These are the worldwide numbers

Diamond Black (pearl effect): 3,979

Reflex Silver (metallic): 2,828

Deep Blue (pearl effect): 2,257

Moonlight Blue: 419

Tornado Red: 267

Indigo Blue (pearl effect): 174

Grey Anthracite (pearl effect): 120

Black: 15

Morano Red (pearl effect): 2

Jazz Blue: 1

The Jazz Blue one refers to the original 'concept' car that was shown at a car show and is the reason the brake calipers are painted Jazz Blue, and its thought the Morano Red and the flat Black ones are VW owned.

199 got to Oz - one "died on the docks" in Europe and didn't make it. :)

Apparently NZ got 35 of them too - not sure if that came out of the Oz numbers though.

I doubt that Rachel, as the Kiwi ones have the Eurospec engine codes, not "BML" like ours.

The rest of world figures would be included in the difference to the total.

Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc etc

ANybody have a clue as to how many are still about? As in minus the ones written off?

I want to hang onto mine in the hope that it will increase in value eventually due to being a rare beast.

Mine is still alive and kicking & sadly doesn't seem to be increasing in value, although by the time I get round to finding a replacement I suppose anything could happen...
